Be careful; stripes shouldn't be the same width all the way back.
I'm confused, what do you mean by this?

You just can't put 10" wide stripes from the front to the back of your car. Shelby stripes got wider as they went back. Adding stripes isn't an easy task. Wait and buy a stripe kit from Roush, Shelby or someone who develops one you like. The stripe kit for the current model Roush is just over $100, which is well worth it when you consider your car will look rediculous with a bad stripe job.

I use to work in a sign shop. Don't worry, I don't think it will look bad. I'll take an overhead shot of the car and do a CAD design to see how it looks before I cut the vinyl. If I can't figure something out in time then yes, I would order a kit until I figured something out, but I don't want the same stripes that everyone else would have.

That front bumper on the white one looks like it belongs on a honda....not a mustang.

Here is an example from a Shelby Cobra (still looking for Shelby Mustang dimensions) but it gives you the idea:

OK, here are Mustang Le Mans stripe dimensions, for the 65-66

http://www.titchenal.com/mustang/steptwo.htm

I would also take a shot at measuring the photos of the Titanium show car, and calculating the size. They should be proportional to the size of the car.

ok- i'm a girl... someone please explain this to me... why is it bad to put on stripes that are the same size all the way down???- to me this seems normal - why do they put stripes on that get wider???

Usually the fronts of cars are pushed outward at the front and the tapers keep it looking 'straight'.

Since you can hardly look top-down on a car, it help it from looking "wider" in the front as an optical illusion and depth perception. The pointer the nose, the more they taper down. Mustang's rears are rather flat, they dont taper as much.

I am curious. Just how can tape stripes conform to the contours of the Mustang body? Specifically, around the rear license plate indention. The titanium show car makes this point clearly. Surely these stripes are painted on! I don't like the idea of cutouts all over the tape stripes for every body indention. I bet stripes can be painted on cheaper at a local body shop than at your Ford dealer. Even if they did offer them, there would be a wait list, because so many would want them.

Actually, that doesn't make any sense to me... your stripes should be the same width from front to back, but the pics Brad posted are of Mustangs with completely disproportionate stripe sizes as compared to vehicle size. Those thin stripes look great- but on small cars. Take a look a my stripes now...

If you notice, the stripes are VERY wide, I think 12" EACH (you gotta' get two!) They definitely do not change size as the go back. Again, it's just about proportions, so get wide stripes since the Mustang is a wide looking vehicle. B)

Thumbs up

What color are the skunk stripes on the Satin Silver Mustang that was at the Auto Shows?

Have stripes always been taped on, or do some have them painted on? What has Ford offered historically?

Vinyl cannot contour into area such as license plate indentation. Sure, getting them painted looks better but you actually think it would be cheaper?????? Vinyl can "wrap" around various curves without cutting (as you put it). When I do my car there will be no seems, overlays, etc because you don't need it. My stripes will just be on the outside of the license plate indentation, not inside. Why bother with vinyl. 2 reasons for me. First it is a lot cheaper than getting a shop to paint the car (after all they would then clear coat over all of the parts they painted and it chips a lot easier than the factory finish) and second, if I don't like the looks I just take the stripes off and try something different.
