Stock shift light on an 06 GT??

A friend of mine just got a used 06 Gt and he said when the sun hits the tach guage just right you can see the indention of an arrow shaped light right in the top center of the guage. Just like the shift light on the shelby. I havn't looked on my 05 yet but he's wonder if this is a shift light and can it be activated.

This was an ideal they once had but never put it in the final design. Only the GT500 have a shiftlight.

Who needs a shift light anyway right? WOT shift it just before the limiter kicks in!

There is a spot on the face for a light, but there is no light behind it.

Ford just did us a favor. If there would've been a shift light, we'd be all thinking of ways to deactivate it.

Do you have any idea why the upshift arrow is active on Canadian cars? Is it regulatory for some reason?
