Got my GT on Nov. 30, has almost 2000 miles now and I have yet to have a fill-up problem with my car. Is this issue effecting ALL mustangs, or is it just a few cases of some weird vent problem? Seems to me, if the tank was made wrond it would effect every car the same way. Please advise.

I had an issue at one gas station.......
Second time no issues at all.
Very first ever was Chevron(I didn't fill it, salesman did)
First was Shell
Second was Exxon

Two fill-ups for me so far.......

Both times after initially putting in the nozzle and starting to pump, the latch immediately. UNCLICKS. Adjust the nozzle and start pumping and NO PROBLEMS. Nothing that hasn't happened to me on other cars......

I haven't had the problem yet in my GT, but did have it quite a few times in my Honda.

They keep trying to "help" the enviroment by reducing escaping gas vapors, so they've changed the gas pumps and tightened up the fill hole in new cars. Remember when you had like a 2 1/2-3" gaping hole in your gas tanks? They have a shut off back pressure type valve in the gas pump nozzles now, if you don't insert it just right it wont pump. Some pumps seem more sensitive to this.

I don't think it is so much a design flaw from Ford as much as it is worn out or older fuel nozzles just backing up too easily. With my Honda, I sometimes had to either switch pumps or even gas stations altogether. It's frustrating but don't think it is the manufactuers fault at all.

EDIT: just to clerify, fuel pump in this post refers to the gas station not your fuel pump in the car :P

Haven't experienced this problem at all. As some have suggested, it might have more to do with the design of the pump spout etc...

Mine was so bad the other day I couldn't even pump it slowly. I had to turn it upside down, and then was able to go full. My Mom's Jag does the same thing though. Both Fords....

Had the problem the first time I filled up and haven't had it since. Filled up 5 or 6 times since then.

Also no problems at all with this so far, 1300 miles logged, averaging 20.2 mpg!!!! Way better than I expected.

1500 miles. One station I stopped at had the cover over the nozel and it wouldn't pump. I turned the nozel to the side and was able to fill full lever. Every place else I've been able to turn it on full with no click off, no problems.

Car still has fill problems. I will have service dept check it out at 1500 mile check. I hate these recovery nozzels. You can't just pull it back or it will not pump.

I had problems with my only fuel stop so far. Service person at dealership says to try inserting the nozzle at an angle or upside down. We'll see how it goes in a couple of days.

I've filled up four times and only had this problem once. It was at the new gas pumps at Kroger and I don't think I'll use them again.

I have been to every brand name gas station all over NJ and this is the conclusion I have come up with.......

Pumps that have filling problems:

1. Mobil
2. Exxon
3. Citgo
4. Gasway

The thing that u need to do is when u go to these stations is, u don't have to turn it upside down, just don't stick the nozzle in all the way. Always did it when I went to mobil and it continued to pump, not sure if anyone posted about that thing with the nozzle.
