Hey Guys,

something happened last night that kinda freaked me out. I was pulling onto a frwy here in L.A. when I could swear it felt like my steering wheel momentarily locked up, and I instictively put the clutch in and it freed up! This was on an onramp of the 110 Pasadena fwy, the oldest fwy in Los Angeles. I mention this because most of the onramps on this fwy require you to get on from a dead stop, so you have to gun it to get up to speed quickly. Also, the section where I got in is very curvy so I was not going in a straight line. Anyone ever experience this? I think obvisouly there is a safety concern here, 'cause if the wheel had stayed lock, I would been in deep s**t. I'm going to the dealer this weekend.

Interesting, and potentially dangerous.

Could it have something to do with the power steering? My truck has done that before and it ended up having something to do with the power steering.

Does the Mustang have a steering wheel lock? I never checked.

I dunno. What did you do about your truck?

I would take it to the dealer, that sounds pretty serious if there's a problem!

Yup... it does have a sterring lock. One week after picking up my GT in February, I went to the car on a Saturday morning and found that although I could engage the key, I could not turn the key to engage the starter. I then triewd wiggling, shimming, cussing and turning the wheel., Of course, the wheel locked. Now... no wheel turn and no key turn. I had to call for a tow driver to take it to the dealer. Once he was out, the driver said he had seen this on a few Mustangs in his day, and after fiddling with it for a few minutes, he got everything unlocked. He said that the secret is to hold the key up on the upper protion of the lock when turning if it ever locks me out again.
