I'm taking the car in this weekend for a few minor fixes, but i'm wondering if i'm the only one who's shifter squeaks at low speeds?

it's especially noticeable first thing in the morning - it's like a squeaky noise that's coming right from the shifter/boot. SUPER annoying and most prevalent when just coasting/cruising in 1st and 2nd.

??

Thanks,
Kristina

There was a post a while back with a complaint and a fix for a similar problem. I'd try some searches.

Assuming the noise is caused by the boot itself...
The shifter boot is not made from real leather. It's harder than leather and its worsened by cold weather. What I have noticed is that with time (4 months or so) it wore off a little a became softer. Noise was gone at that pt. You can replace it on real lether boot for about $60(?). Do search on leather shifter covers or boots. There is a long thread on where to buy and how to install.

Hey the shift boot that comes with the car is vinyl (and if you feel it, not a soft one at that)

I ordered Redline Shiftboots - check out a picture of mine in a post below, no more squeaking from the vinyl shift boot!

Krissy,
Don't ever hesitate to ask a question. I often say that there are no stupid questions except the one you don't ask. If you can't find it on a search, someone else out here in cyber space will either remember a thread or actually help you find it. Good luck with your new Stang -- hope all the problems are resolved in a timely manner. Oh yeah, and as an answer to your question, the boot does soften up after a few 100 miles and no more noise if you decide to leave it alone. I put a very very small spray of WD40 to run down the shift bar and beneath the boot. It came back once, but was gone within a few minutes. Again, best success with the steed.
