Squeaking from front tire

My 06 mustang gt has recently acquired a new & very annoying squeaking noise in the left front tire. Happens over most but not all bumps in the road, any ideas?

I would check caliper first. Might be a warped rotor or maybe a worn out tie rod end.

assume lug nuts have already been checked... should be able to just bounce the car with someones help, and take a listen with the hood open, see if its high/low...strut top mount, lower balljoint, tierod ends, lower control arm bushings, and the sway bar links are really all thats supposed to move...after making sure wheel lugs are tight, think next most likely is sway bar links, they are pretty cheap looking design, hopefully not a lower balljoint as thats a few bucks to replace+ realign.

I got a set of swaybar links for our mercury off ebay for like 20 bucks, same part part store wanted 90 for... timken hub for the wifes truck was 80 vs 180- I ike to buy local, but at way over 100% markups, cant do it...funny some stuff is same/higher with shipping, but never hurts to look.

get a cheep mechanics stethoscope to find out for sure where that squeak is coming from, its amazing what those things point out. one of the best ways to spend 5~10 bucks for sure

Hello hlm333,

Welcome to the forum! My name is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. I recommend you speak to your Ford dealer about this and have it diagnosed. Your Service Manager will be in the best position to assist you with this. He can also look at any possible warranty your vehicle may still have, Recalls, or TSBs. If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to PM me.

Sounds like a balljoint to me.

Have similar squeaking from the lower A-arm bushings. You can troubleshoot it by putting some silicone spray on the bushings, no more squeaking will mean bushings no change could be the ball joint.

A long screwdriver will work as a stethoscope in a pinch.

Car is just over 100k miles so no longer under warranty. Going to take it today to see if it needs alignment. These OK roads can do a beating on your car. And am going to check out the stethoscope. The squeaking has recently stopped though but I'm sure it'll start up again.

I'll bet it is a bad wheel bearing because premature wheel bearing failure is a common occurrence for these S197's. Oh and alternators fail quickly on these models too just for an FYI. Check the wheel bearings by loading up the front end on a jack, if the tire travels with wobble in an upward and downward direction when you shack it with your hands, your wheel bearing is most likely shot.

Yea I had to replace the alternator last winter. I'm not the first owner, so I constantly working out kinks in the car. Previous owner was a young college kid who clearly didn't take care of it

Took it in to get looked at & it's the tie rods & wheel bearing that need fixed. Any idea on how much that'll cost me?
