The production version of the 2007 Explorer Sport Trac was actually unveiled in September at the big truck show in Texas. The Sport Trac is at NAIAS, but since it has already been unveiled, they don't seem to be making any effort to re-unveil it.
I do have the video release from Ford for the new Sport Trac on my website. I have a lot of pictures and video for all the Ford products at NAIAS on my website. Click on the link in my signature, and then click on the NAIAS link from my homepage to get to that section of my site.
Hopefully that will give you a little of what you are looking for.

I'm surprised everyone is so ga-ga over the Shelby GT500 and the SportTrac Adrenaline... Saleen has a better, equal model in both categories with their new Saleen S-331 (pic) and 550hp S-281E Mustang. I guess a lot of folks just get blinded by the name, as there's no way "Shelby" impresses me more than a 550hp version Saleen...

When are they actually putting the regular Sport-Trac up for sale, let alone the SVT version? This fall?

As the the SVT version, if it is built, I would expect a year between the initial product release and a special edition. But then again, when they showed the Adrenalin concept last year, they referred to it as a 2007 model.

Last I had heard, the Louisville Assembly Plant was supposed to start building them around February or March. Ford's press release does not give any type of exact date, but says it will be available in the spring of this year.

Hmm a $60,000 F150 or a 40k shelby with a $6000 Kenny Bell that makes over 900hp hmmmm........... We sell Saleens here and I'm not quite sure if im that impressed with the $55,000 non supercharged convertible in the showroom.

There's an 05 non-supercharged Saleen coupe sitting in a local dealer for $49,900. My barely modded 25K GT will beat it down the 1/4.

I've always felt you should not comment on a car's price/performance equation unless you can afford either of the models you are comparing -- this avoids any subconscious bias you can conjure up.
If you can't afford a Saleen which yes, does cost more than an SVT (but offers a lot more performance for more money), then you should stick to comparing lesser models unless you are an editor for Road & Track. It's funny how some folks dislike things they've never really learned about or even have driven; the new GT500 is quite honestly a bore to look at when you think that it costs $25,000 MORE than a V6... a Corvette still presents more bang for the buck (and I don't own a Corvette, but have driven the Z06 once). Just my opinion, m'kay.
Oh yeah, the S-331 starts around $37,000 -- if you look at the fact that a Ford Explorer Limited is $44,000 -- the amount suddenly doesn't seem so outrageous considering this pickup has four seats and more HP.

They did say they are actually building a couple everyday right now, but they are still pre-launch units, so they will not ship until the launch has officially gone underway.

YOu gotta be kidding... look at the Saleen grille. How could it be any uglier?
While the Saleen hood is ok, there is nothing aggressive looking going on with the front.
The Saleen rear bumper is nice with the center exhaust, but the tail light panel is not. Mustangs need the three tail lights, the 2 light panel on the Saleen just doesnt work, and the center panel is totally out of place. Spoiler is hideous, way to big and fugly.
The Shelby while plainer looks good with the rear diffuser, and black accents on the lower part. It needs a black out or honeycomb center panel, but is a much nicer look than Saleens.

I find the new Saleens look very fat from the back (kind of like the C5 vettes).
SVT will always be the best bang for the buck in my opinion. That being said, I am disappointed in the weight of the GT500 and no option for painted stripes, but we can't have everything for $40K.
I hope the new SVT Sport Trac comes in under $40K.
