That looks plain. Almost like a company car or base model. I get your point.

Just what I've done to help decide. (see image, sorry for size)

I like w/o the spoiler. To me, just looks cleaner. Also, since its really non-functional, just one more thing to break/get in the way.

I did a poll on this subject, actually, spoiler or ducktail, way back in February, and the ducktail (if Ford offered one, there are some great photoshops of ducktails on the 05) won by an overwhelming margin.

Personally, I'm going with the spoiler delete. Every other car on the planet nowdays has a spoiler - it's no longer unique.
I agree with you 67. just about every car you see on the road nowadays has a spoiler. Even some of those 4 cyl. jobs!
Ducktail for me.

So how would I get a ducktail? And with that in mind, would it be better to choose Spoiler or No-Spoiler?

So lets say we get the Spoiler then wanna disown it. What sort of options would we have? There are not enough on the lots to swap trunks. I guess you could get something aftermarket, but I wouldn't begin to know the price or time involved. Although I wouldn't mind a ducktail on the back of it.

 Thoughts?

I think it depends on the color.

Black, White, Torch Red, Windveil Blue, Sonic Blue look better without the spoiler.
Redfire, Legend Lime, Screaming Yellow, Satin Silver and Mineral Gray look better with spoiler.

(something like that. I'm actually not quite sure about the two shades of silver)

JustAnotherDude: I noticed your wishlist car. Excellent choice. The only problem light graphite isn't offered on Mineral Grey. That's the color I wanted too but couldn't get.

BTW can someone post a picture of what the duckfins look like? Thanks

I'm curious, is the '05 spoiler actually functional once you do get it up to the necessary speed?

As for spoiler/not spoiler, I like em both ways, but I'd love to see a ducktail - every bit as classy as the spoiler-delete, but it breaks up the vast prairie of a rear end as well as the current spoiler. Best of both worlds.

Kerafaith, thanks for the compliment. Great minds, and all that.

Yeah I noticed today when I played around with the "build your Mustang" feature that it's not available. Dang. I guess some color-coordinator at Ford said it'd be too grey. I say you can never have too much grey. So I guess charcoal will be the choice then. Not bad either, my dad has something similar in his Saab.

Wombert- I think Torch Red looks better with the spoiler. But your list is pretty accurate in my opinion. I feel that the darker colors will look good without it, but the brighter colors will look better with it. Just a thought.

I really like Charlie's spoiler delete, but before that I was hooked on the spoiler. I will have to wait to see it in person before I make a final decision. Right now I like the clean lines that the Mstang has without the spoiler. The spoiler on this car definitly applies to the retro 50-60s look, but for some reason it looks like a bit of an after thought on this vehicle. More so then the older versions. I use to have a 73 mach 1 (show car) and it had a functional spoiler on it. The spoiler on the mustnags back then was adjustable using an allen wrench to loosen and tighten the spoiler. And let me tell you made a big difference at highway speeds. This spoiler is not functional and I think the Mustang has very classy lines without it. Still needs louvers though! (HA!)
