Spit and shine - 2005 in your driveway
#1
Some of the early orders will hopefully soon be making their way to our driveways. What does everyone plan on doing in terms of wash, clay, polish and wax, and which products?????
A few salesmen I spoken with say to wait a few months, before going beyond washing. Others have advised that the paint is ready, when delivered.
Car care nformation is available on the thread "Suggested new car prep tips.....", and at websites bettercarcare.com and autopia.com.
I'm interested to see what routines people are planning to go through when the car hits the driveway. (I was originally listed as Sept 13 build date, but have not heard anything new. I need something else to obsess about for the time being)

I'm a Zaino fan, especially on a black car, but have tried the Meguiars NXT Tech wax, and its very close. I feel Zaino has the edge, but for the extra $, the Meguiars is hard to beat.
You cold order some Zaino and obsess about it until the car comes in. B) Just think, you'll likely have one of the first '05s on the forum, while others including me continue to wait for what will seem like an eternity (I ordered last week). I think Santa will be here before my car is.

I have a 2000 Explorer, that I recently used clay on. The finish has never been as smooth. The Explorer's paint, even when I got the car new, had some texture to it. I guess I am anticipating the same with the GT.

Alright, someone's going to have to explain that one to me.

What the heck is Zaino? The only stuff I know with a "Z" is Zymol, and it's like $50 (starting price) for a small jar. Lots of Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo owners use it for black paint or other colors.

Basically it's a gritty, spongy type thing that you wipe along the paint (using a lubricant like spray shine, and going along the windflow lines of the car). It rubs tiny particles out of the very top of the clear coat.
Then I go through a cover layer of Z1 polish lok, then Z5 polish on top of it. Let it cure, wipe it down, buff it, lay another coat of Z5 (maybe the next day).

Interesting stuff on the site and thanks, I finally know what the stuff is. Is it like someone selling out of a garage though, lol? I don't see it in stores or anything, but hey, whatever floats Zaino's boat

He used to only sell it through localized distributors. He hasn't been going through any retailers yet, but it's nice to be able to order online now.
I keep a pretty good stock on hand, with a black truck in the garage.
