Thumbs up

Does anyone know what the speedometer goes up to on the 05. The brochure shows a 120 mph. but in Automobile mag. or Car and Driver mag. shows a 140 mph. I know it`s not a big deal, but I`m curious

Wow, so if you get the IUP it will make your car 20 MPH faster, that's awesome!

Know this has been covered in another thread, but don't bother to find it...

Seeing as "all" sportscar sedans are governed at 155 mph and they're even walking away from that now on some (like Porsche), I think the Mustang should be able to reach at least 155 without getting strangled. For image, if nothing else. Why have a pony if you're going to get outrunned by a dude in a VW Golf VR6 on the Autobahn?

Ford, it's about Image. Dammit.

edit: OK, since it's not officially going to free-speed regions it's an academic question, but I think it matters even in downtown L.A.

I knew there was a reason I spent that extra 500 dollars on it. B)

Even though it doesn't make any sence, I think it is reversed.

120 = IUP
140 = non-IUP

The proof is in the pics below...

*Note: Even the rev band is bigger on the non-IUP.

The guage max has nothing to do with the ability of the car to reach these speeds, it is just that the guage only goes that high. The car would be able to accelerate past these speeds.

You beat me to it. I noticed that a couple weeks ago. Kinda wierd, but I guess the reasoning is that it spaces the #s out more for better readability. I'd rather have it say 140 though!!!

http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/0...wnersManual.pdf

A check of the owner's manual shows the standard gauge set maxing at 120mph and the IUP at 140mph.

The manual is drawings rather than photos, of course. But it just does not make sense for it to be any other way.

Not so sure how accurate those are either though, as they BOTH show the KM/h going up to 240. That wouldn't be calibrated correctly for one of the two.............

What do You think, about the "ungovernmentet" realy topspeed of the new V6?

120 mph is to slow for the german Autobahn :bang:

Thanks!

120 is not too slow for the autobahn. Most people drive around 85 mph. Plus there are so many speed restricted areas there now you can barely get above 90.

I've already researched this. It has nothing to do with IUP.

V6 = 120 IUP or not

GT = 140 IUP or not

Porsches have never been governed. There was an "agreement" between major german car makers (BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc) to limit their cars to 250kph; this was recently "violated" by BMW, they will limit their new M5 to ~280kph (rumor has it that it's good for over 300; I believe the reason for 280 is again the tires). Golf VR6s are, by the way, also limited to 250kph, so there's no way you could get smoked by one on the Autobahn, where you have a lot of speed limits anyway.

120: V6
140: V8

it's that simple and hasn't anything to do with the IUP, same goes for the rev band

Well, I think Brad should move the IUP pic with the 120 MPH limit to the V-6 area of the page then, and re-title the picture as not to mislead anyone.
