I just realised I have a speedign ticket on my record from a year and a half ago and not sure if they included that with ym insurance quote. For people here who have gotten speedign tickets, how much did that increase your insurance?
Thanks
Thanks

I had a speeding ticket in 1997 (3rd day of owning my 95 Stang). I called my insurance to tell them I moved to a different city and I told them I just got a ticket. She said it won't go up. I was shocked. I found out they do not regularly check my driving record. As long as they don't check the record, my insurance does not go up. I made it the whole 3 years until that ticket cleared without my insurance going up.
In 2001, I got another ticket. I made it 1 1/2 years without an increase from that ticket. When I finally got an increase I asked why. They said they recently checked my record and saw I had a ticket in 2001. That is when they told me how they periodically check the driving record, but until then they do not know.
My insurance is Geico and I have been with them for 15 years (since I was 16)

Never report a ticket. I mean even if they twist your arm. I had one about a year after I got my 99 GT. Went to driving school and got it dropped. 4 months later I get another(paid it). Now, I've had the same insurance company for years and they never raised my rate. I added a vehicle and they always ask "any tickets or accidents". Nope.
They may check if your a new customer, and if you change anything, but never tell them. You may get away with it.

I was not sure what happened. The cop told me I was looking at a $185 fine plus points. Then gave me back my license and got in his car. I was not sure if I should drive off or not. I waited a little, then left. He didn't chase me, and it has been three months with no ticket in the mail.
I have had a ticket in the mail from running a red light before. I did not even see the light, so I was shocked when I got the ticket a month later. Darn photochoppers really made it look like it was me running that light.

maverick, you had a speeding ticket, had it removed off your record, and your insurance went up?!? sounds like time to find a new insurance agent.

As long as it is under 21 mph over it will only affect you for 36 months. Anything over 21 will stay on your MVR for 5 yrs. And you can say you have nothing on your reports, but we will find it in the long run!!! Except some places in FL, sometimes you can get by with them because some companies don't run MVRs up front.

Heh, man I must be the ticket king, from 94 to 2004 I've racked up 11 or 12 tickets, I own interstate from Va to Ky. I think my best one was doing 90 in a 55 down route 1 some place south of DC, State police officer was all smile ear to ear.
