Thumbs up

I have never owned a standard with speed control and am curious about how it may work in certain conditions. For example your in 5th gear going down the highway and you hit the coast button reducing your speed enough that you should now be in 4th. What will happen when you release the coast button I assume you buck and chug until you down shift or does the auto control disengage? What happens when you hit resume and your in 4th but you set it for a speed that requires 5th gear, will you wind out in 4th. Does anyone have a real close up of the steering wheel with the speed control button setup?

A Standerd with Speed Control is really only good on the highway. If you coast down to a speed were say you should be foruth the engine WILL lug.

If your in 3rd and you should be in 4th then it will wind, the clutch will disingage the cruise just like the brake does, requring you to hit RESUME.

at highway speeds, the bucking and chugging won't be an issue...you won't have alot of pep on the acceleration if you coast down to 50 mph and keep it in cruise, but you won't have driveability issues

Most people don't use cruise except at highway speeds. You should be in top gear on the highway anyway.

I have it on my car. The only place I use is in the speed trap areas around town. I put it in the proper gear and set it to the exact posted speed. It keeps me from getting speeding tickets.

Congrats on picking a standard, it will be really fun and great to have. It will give you a feeling of being connected to the car in a much different way than compared to an automatic. Unless you live in an area with miles of straight roads without traffic I would not worry to much about using the cruise control. In my last car I never even used it - and I had it for over 3 years. If you are dead set on learning all about the cruise control, and how it works, here is a link to the 2004 Mustang Owners Manual. I would imagine that the controls and behavior on the 2005 model are very similar. The discussion for cruise control starts on Page 46.

I don't mean to be insulting, but how do you drive if you are blind?
