Speakers on a 2008 GT w/500 Shaker

Ever curious what the speakers are rated for from the factory before purchasing new replacements? Ask me how I know....LOL

That's disappointing to see (I'm sure they are the same for my '07) but I'm keeping my fingers crossed as no issues yet. I really don't crank up the volume that often so that probably helps.

I didn't blow them up, just upgrading. I was hoping 75 watt Kickers would be enough, turns out, plenty. Even with a replaced Shaker head unit for a Panasonic. We shall see I guess.

is that 2.5 or 25 Watts? LOL . . .

25 is actually plenty with a fairly efficient speaker . . . I guess you probably already know this, but higher power handling often comes with less efficiency and there is no reason to put in speakers that can handle a lot more power than the amp puts out

there are some threads on here about replacement speakers that you might want to check out before buying, if you haven't already

Same question! Is that 2.5 watts or 25 watts? Kind of hard to tell from the picture image

The power you need in watts is in the thumpers, and even then you can overdo it. Mids and tweeters don't need anything to speak of in terms of watts, comparatively speaking. And you can use a speaker that's rated for more watts than you need. Example, I use these for my Shaker currently:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pioneer-T...-X-8/337098847

Things handle 80 watts nominal, 350 in a peak. Plenty for the stock head units/amps. And yes, I got 'em from WalyWorl, some years ago. Four of them, two in the doors, two in the package tray. They work fantastic, IMO. Although the brights are maybe sometimes too bright, overall they've done a great job with the stock Shaker 500 head unit. The door subs are still factory and so far still workin'. Probably will re-surround them if those go out, as they're impossible to otherwise replace without modding the door or having them stick out, so far as I can tell... Those Kicker 'replacements' aren't it. I ain't got enough room beside me without those things stickin' out more.

For what all that's worth, there ya go.

"This" Unless, I'm taking long road trips on the interstate, it's very rare that I ever turn on the shaker 500 anyhow.. For short travel distances, it's not even worth listening to music, but that's just me.. Besides, I much prefer listening to the sweet sounds of the engine and exhaust.. LOL

I'm sure in that same mindset at times, especially during the warmer months with the top down or windows open. This is my last 'manual' car so that sound of rowing through the gears is something special.

These are the replacements I picked for the the 4 (2 door, 2 rear deck) speakers. Still have the 2 door left to do, but the 2 rear deck are done. And btw, what a major pain in the butt to get to. You have to take half the interior apart to get to them, and then get it all lined back up, all while sitting hunched over on folded down rear seats. LOL

The head unit was replaced a couple weeks ago, liking it so far. The Shaker unit was giving me the eternal "bad disc" error message, so it was done. Crutchfield made me a wiring harness that was plug and play, retaining the use of the factory amps, so I was sold. The one and only thing about the newer head units is the lack of XM compatability unless you get in to the higher end units costing $$$. I listen to XM almost all the time in my truck, well that and music I have loaded on a thumb drive plugged in to the USB port.

The factory speakes are 25 watt. Never looked in to replacing the subs in the door, and no plans as of now

Thanks for confirming the wattage of the factory speakers at 25 watts
