I found a thread at the mach1registry.com from a guy who talked to ford engineers at Sunset Ford in Westminster, CA. One important thing he noted was that the 5 speed 05 GT weighs 40 pounds more than the 5 speed mach 1 so the gt should have a curb weight of about 3505 pounds.

Yea but the magazine article I read quouted Thai-Tang as saying it would weigh less than 3,450.

3450lbs is the number we've been hearing all along. I tend to believe that figure. Maybe he meant 40lbs more than the GT, not the mach? EIther way, it isn't 3700lbs.

"3470" was the figure listed in a presentation shown by the Ford engineers at the MCA 40th for the 5-speed GT coupe, which is 40lbs heavier than the Mach 1's quoted weight of 3430.

Nobody knows anything about the cars weight. 3450 though would be perfect for the vehicles size.
