I found a thread at the mach1registry.com from a guy who talked to ford engineers at Sunset Ford in Westminster, CA. One important thing he noted was that the 5 speed 05 GT weighs 40 pounds more than the 5 speed mach 1 so the gt should have a curb weight of about 3505 pounds.

"3470" was the figure listed in a presentation shown by the Ford engineers at the MCA 40th for the 5-speed GT coupe, which is 40lbs heavier than the Mach 1's quoted weight of 3430.
