Sold It! First time in 20 years w/o a Mustang.
For the first time in almost 20 years (since April 1989) I don't have a Mustang. Just a few minutes ago I watched my Performance White 2005 Mustang GT Coupe leave w/o me in it. Loved the car. Nothing wrong with it at all, but it was time for a change. I bought a Jeep Wrangler almost a year ago (something I've wanted since I was a kid) and decided I didn't need two vehicles.
Since I won't be stopping by as much anymore, I want to say a HUGE thank you to Brad and all the TMS members. WOW! What a great site. From those first CAD drawings of the '05, and then it's introduction, to those many months of waiting for her to be delivered, and then all the mods and the countless hours of research for each one, the amount of information I've gained from TMS is immeasurable.
To my Florida friends I met and hung out with at the MCA 30th Anniversary show... I hate to sound all sappy, but that's a weekend I'll cherish forever and never forget. Dave (Burke0011), Dave (MTAS), Perry (mustangshadow), & Jackie (photlabgirl77) you guys made that a great weekend.
So, that's it for me for a while. Of course I'll drop by to see updates on the latest Mustangs, and maybe it won't be too long before I have another one and I'm on here everyday again.
Thanks again everybody!!
Sincerely,
Jason A. Davis

Aaarh, this sucks. I've always loved your car and enthusiasm and am sad to see your car and you go. Hopefully you'll stick around. The Wrangler is an awesome vehicle though. I went the opposite direction. I had 2 different Wranglers for several years, and sold my last one when I fell in love w/ the S197. Jeeps are very fun and versatile, though the gas mileage is horrid.
People always asked me how I like my Jeep. My response was "It's noisy, slow, has a rough ride, handles like crap, and gets horrible gas mileage." The next question was 'So, you hate it?' My reply was "Nope, I love it. Best **** vehicle I've ever owned, great personality, and I'll probably never get rid of it." Today I still miss that Jeep. I ended up getting my wife a KJ Renegade and her lease is almost up. I tried talking her into a Wrangler, but she wasn't having any of it.
Jason, take care bro, enjoy the Jeep - It'll treat you well. Got some pics? What exactly did you get? They've expanded the Wrangler line-up a lot in the last few years. Congrats, now lets see the pics.

I know how ya feel. I had my 05, then I got a craving for something else. I bought an 89 lx5.0 3 weeks ago. It wont stop there. When the 2010 comes out, I know I wont be able to resist...
I know how you feel. I sold my show car Buick Grand National to get my mustang and I had 11 years and many many hours and $$ into it.. My family had a deep connection with it too. But I wanted a change too.. And am very happy with the Mustang.. Good luck with your jeep..
They can have my Mustang when they pry it from my cold dead fingers....
All too possible, I suppose, but I went too many years without one ('83-'06)...not gonna happen again.
Best of luck brother, methinks you will be back in a pony one day...

best of luck Jason, it's gotta be hard, but you'll love the jeep, maybe not the fuel mileage, but cruising around with no top or doors, is definately a unique experience; and there's an @$$load of aftermarket parts for them
Okay I can understand the desire for a 4x4, I've been driving them since 1981, but a HEEP???? I currently have a 1996 Centurion 4 door Bronco and an 07 Mustang GT vert. If I have to sell a vehicle, The Bronco will be the first to go, even though it is very unique. Man you couldn't satisfy your 4x4 craving with an Early Bronco???
Talk about going over to the dark side, a heep!!!

Jason,
What to say, man.... you need to do whatever you have to - just know that you'll be missed around here. Really sorry you were never able to make it down here for a show with us - but the MCA trip was just such a cool weekend - definitely the best Mustang group experience I have had (even if I DID get stuck rooming with Mr. Chilli and Eggs for breakfast Dave/MTAS
)I had a blast that weekend man. I hope you drop in and keep touch.
Here's some pics I dug out from that weekend.
The amusing things: I had my new 06 for maybe a month tops so it is funny to see her with stock wheels, the stock Saleen airbox, etc... the other thing is look for the gas station shot and see what gas prices were back in '06
(mindboggling)

Sad to see you go mate, and I share your sentiments about that trip to Birmingham
It was probably a once in a lifetime thing from my perspective. The whole weekend, from that 3am wake-up call, the 5am meet up at Steak & Shake (and yeah Dave that chili & eggs was awesome - still the best breakfast on the planet!), the shenanigans the whole time up there, some in our cars and some at the event itself, talking about (besides Mustangs) music, movies and several subjects that can't be posted on a family site like this
A few of my favorite pics from that weekend:

Hope to see you on here again with a next gen S197 5.0!!
