I just slid into a curb sideways because some jerk pulled out in front of me. My back rim is toast and the front rim has just a little ding in it. It seems to be steering straight but when I got home I noticed that my back axle is off. The side that hit the curb is pushed in about an inch and the other side is out about an inch. Any ideas on what is wrong or how much it might be to fix this?
The guy that pulled out took off! :bang:

I'm the most worried about the fact that the back end is out of alignment. Could the whole axle be screwed?

You're right that it could have been worse. I'm just still really shook up. This only happened about 2 hours ago and I'm so mad I feel like I'm gonna barf. I'm just worried that it will cost a fortune to fix this. I could have called the police but there is nothing that they could do. I don't think I could have my insurance pay for this because then my rate will go up.
I think I just need to calm down and get it to the dealer for a estimate before I jump to conclusions.

Hopefully it just knocked the rear out of alignment. I would take a breather on it tonight and maybe poke around under it tomorrow. Being that the trailing links have some flex to them, the panhard bar may of been bent. Was it just the rear that hit the curb??

Yeah, I think I'm going to try to get my mind off of it by watching a movie. I have MBR Control arms on it so I doubt that it screwed that up. A new stock panhard bar shouldn't be that much money if it is bent. The big question is, could it have screwed up the axle? Anyway, thanks for you support. I don't really have anyone else to talk to right now, everyones out so you guys are all I've got.

Doubt it coulda done anything to the axle. You might want to get a good mechanic to take a look see under the car. Were here for you buddy!

Well, I just couldn't help myself but I feel better now. I looked under the back of the car and the panhard bar is bent pretty bad. I can replace a panhard bar no problem and they are not that expensive. I will get a better look tomorrow and see if anything else is bent such as flanges or anytdhing else. My BMR control arms seem to be fine but again, I will get a better look tomorrow.

Thanks again for you conserns and help.

Man this makes me sick. I am really worried about this kind of thing - there are so many idiots out there. As I was walking out to my car (far, far away) in a mall parking lot today I saw one young girl in a hurry just slam into the back of another car waiting to turn out of pure impatience. There was damage to both cars, but the ladies looked at it, didn't seem to care much, and just drove off like nothing happened. It's hard to keep our stangs safe in such a careless world. I hope your repairs are minor and you can sleep tonight!

Well on the bright side, I think I will upgrade to a adjustable Steeda panhard bar for when I want to lower the car. I am thinking of using this as an opportunity to upgrade to some 18" chrome bullits. I could use the 2 undamaged wheels for drag racing. I could put some slicks on them and only put them on at the track.

I'm trying really hard to stay positive.

***Newsflash***
The Mustang community has it's fair share of careless idiots as well.

Sorry about your car my friend. Hope it's not much to fix.

I'd be sure to check the remainder of the suspension components as well as the mount points. Since everything is rubber mounted you might be lucky, but that had to be a pretty hard hit to bend the panhard rod.

Wow, when I saw the title I thought it was another post by April.

Sorry to hear about your car. Hopefully it will be an easy fix by getting it aligned again.
