Sirius And Sat Nav In The Stang - Official Press
Found this press release from Ford. I know Brad and a dealer here already alluded to it, but here is the actual word from one of Ford's press releases.
Mods please delete if this has already been posted.
*For 2007, the Ford Mustang is enhanced with a standard auxiliary audio input jack and available heated front seats, SIRIUS satellite radio and DVD-based navigation system.

DEARBORN, Mich., June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
Satellite Navigation and SIRIUS Radio Grow
Responding to another consumer trend, Ford is dramatically increasing the number of vehicles with DVD-based navigation systems and SIRIUS satellite radio.
"In 2005, less than half of our vehicles were available with a navigation system, satellite radio or auxiliary audio inputs. For 2007, we're doubling the models available with a navigation system and quadrupling the number with SIRIUS satellite radio," Fields explains. "In addition, we're increasing the number of models with auxiliary audio jacks from zero to nearly half of our lineup."
Ford's intuitive, DVD-based navigation system will be new for 2007 on the Ford Fusion, F-150, Mustang, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Mark LT.
Also, for 2007, Ford Motor Company is broadening its relationship with SIRIUS satellite radio, adding the feature on Ford Five Hundred, Fusion, Mustang, Expedition, Ranger, Sport Trac, Mercury Montego, Milan and Lincoln Navigator. Ford's new vehicles -- Ford Edge, Ford Shelby GT500 and Lincoln MKX -- will offer SIRIUS radio when they go on sale. By the 2008-model year, Ford will offer available SIRIUS satellite radio in 90 percent of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.
Ford also is responding to the explosive popularity of MP3 audio players by offering auxiliary audio input jacks this model year on the Ford Edge, Explorer, Expedition, Mustang, Fusion, Sport Trac, Ranger, F-150, Mercury Milan, Mountaineer, Lincoln MKX, Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln Mark LT. Experts predict MP3 player sales will reach 132 million units in 2009, up from 57.7 million in 2005.

Wonder how much that Nav system will be? I hope it's not to much I would really like to swap it with my Shaker. Though I guess it would also be a question of what the systems watt output would be too. Anyone know?

I won't hold my breath for a cost efficient backwards compatible mod, but I'll hope anyways.

Yeah, it's the same unit that's in the new Explorer and 500; made by Pioneer. Very nice setup overall - not quite as good as Acura's TL (no voice activation) - but feels like a lot better quality than the Shakers. Plus everything, including audio interface, is touchscreen.
Not sure how the amplification issue will work in the Stang, though. The unit in the 500 is 290 watts total power.
I was quoted $2500 CDN here in Van.

i'll look up the exact cost, but he quoted me his raw cost, no labour or extra parts or anything.

...and map books don't guide you to your destination turn by turn while you keep your EYES ON THE ROAD;

...or restaurants;
...or set up a "bread crumbs" mode to help guide you back home from an unfamiliar location that was hard to find in the first place;
...and so forth and so on.
Plus the audio control functions on this unit are vastly superior to the Shakers - not to mention the quality. Delphi/Visteon vs. Pioneer. Hmmmm. There's a no-brainer.
I do admit the add-on unit I used in our rental car in Vegas was handy but not something I terribly miss.
I have a few map books as needed for specific cities I go to. I have a good memory so typically I can look at the map once and find my way as needed. I stick to main routes so finding restaurants and gas stations or ATM's is hardly an issue.
let's just say that while I would like to have DVD navigation, I'm not going to drop 2500-3000$ Cdn for the luxury. That's half a super charger or a lot of other mods. I spend 95% of my time in and around Calgary, anywhere I'm going that I plan out ahead of time is planned through Google Maps. If I don't have that handy then ye ol' map book gets me there.
Don't get me wrong, great it's there as an option but I'd rather just pick up a Garmin or something for a 1/4 the price.
I think I'd pay perhaps 1000-1200 for an upgrade like this, any more and I just don't think I'd get enough out of it.
