Simple Anti-theft

Thought I would pass this on, as I just recently learned of this location for the fuel override/shutoff (whatever its actually called).

Anyway, it's just a little red button located in the side kick panel on the driver side. I have the anti-theft in my car, but in .2 seconds I can assure my car wont be started even if my keys are in the ignition.

Always exceptions but it's a simple feature for addded security. (plus it keeps your wife from taking it, while your out of town for training).

Are you talking about the "fuel pump shut-off switch?" See page 197 of the manual. Here's the text from the manual, without the illustration:

FUEL PUMP SHUT-OFF SWITCH

This device stops the electric fuel pump from sending fuel to the engine
when your vehicle has had a substantial jolt.
After an accident, if the engine cranks but does not start, this switch
may have been activated.
The fuel pump shut-off switch is
located in the driver’s footwell, by
the hood release
To reset the switch:
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no leaks are apparent, reset the
switch by pushing in on the reset
button.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Wait a few seconds and return the key to off.
6. Make another check for leaks.
I assumed it was just to reset the fuel pump if the switch was triggered, haven't tried it to see if it also turns the pump off.

I had a Mustang many years ago that has a very neat idea for an anti theft switch. They disconected the wires to the cigarette lighter and conected the wires in series to the fuel pump. Basically, you had to depress the cigarette lighter to complete the circut, and thus allow the engine to run. To disable the car, just put the cigarette lighter in your pocket!

This is a pretty cool idea. I wouldn't have bought my viper alarm if I thought about this before. Oh well. Now I have a tripple layer anti-theft protection system.
