Is there a bulge in the door panels for the side mounted airbag? Cannot tell if the panels in the pics in the timeline page are with or without.

Good question, I don't think so though. B) Get the airbags anyways, it's way worth it.

I thought side mounted air bags were in the door panels to deploy between the driver's/passenger's side and the interior door panel. Point of impact being the outer skin of the door panel. I have never seen a car with side mount and so do not know where they actually are mounted.

well, my parents have a lexus and there is a little tag on the seat (around shoulder level) that says SRS Airbag... so I always assumed it was in the seat. I think the Stangs are the same way from the pics I've seen

I have the side airbag option. They are in the seats, and there is no real bulge. If you feel it, there is a little bump but does not change the looks at all, except for a VERy small SRS tag.

The Side Air Bags are definitly in the seat, otherwise the tag would be stamped in the Door Panel where it Deploys. The Seam on the side of the Seat is designed to Break Away and the Air Bag Deploys Forward between the Seat and Door. Here's the Cloth Seats that were on E-Bay a long time ago.

If you have side airbags in the seats; does that keep people from using seat covers?

I thought the same thing until I noticed that those seats are not in a car, but are outside on a brick surface.
