Based on history I'm doubtful. Typically we would already have some news by now if it was coming out at the beginning of the 2008 model year (~12 month from now). Examples:

2007 GT/CS: Ford confirmed production ~16 mos prior to production
2007 GT500: Ford brought concept out ~18 mos prior to production
2005 Mustang: Ford brought concept out ~20 mos prior to production
2003 Mach 1: Ford brought concept out ~18 mos prior

So far we've seen no Boss, Mach 1, GT-350, or Bullitt SE concepts from Ford, only stories on stangsunleashed and other places.

I believe MMFF mustang had an article this month saying that sources at Ford say there won't be a performance based SE in 2008. Only possibly stripes and graphics like the GT/CS.

Boss Mustang

TMS parts supplier claims to be in on the know of what special eds are coming and I for now believe him that the next special ed will come at the MY 2008 Job 2 for the Mustang.

IMO, Job 2 2008 for an SE is still a possibility because it's still ~18-19 mos from now. But if Job 2 is the date, we should see something (e.g. a concept) out there very soon (in the next month or 2).

But if was a betting man, my gut feeling is that there will be no performance enhanced SEs out in MY 2008. JMO.

Ford doesn't release products last min. They want to build up hype like with the GT500 so peoeple will pour in ahead of time with 20k just for the right to buy one.

i was trying to wait for a boss, but after months of nothing but seeming rumors... i have decided to order an 07 gt and enjoy that. and i guess i'll just have to make due with the 69 boss 302 i have in the garage.

i bet the day after i sign the paperwork for the 07... the boss will be unveiled.

maybe when that happens the boss will be pretty ugly or something so that i wont be too pissed.

Hurry up and sign the paperwork so we can see the new Boss! I really can't imagine it being ugly though.

Elvism, here's a link http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=45450 about this subject. I was supposed to be number 2 in line for a Shelby, now the dealer Say's they are only getting one. I waited for years for the next SVT to come out. I held off buying a 2003 cobra because I knew the next SVT would be awesome. Now they have me waiting indefinitely to see if I can get a Shelby. (I won't pay over MSRP). If I can't get a Shelby, I will try and get the Boss if it comes out. So here I go again, waiting and we're not even sure if they are going to make it. It would be cool if the next Boss was the next SVT.

Am not saying your dealer is not telling the truth but a friend of mine was "first in line" for the Shelby but never put a deposit down - was told it was not necessary. Its a small town. This was sometime last year. He recently was told a mistake was made and he was not first. Finally found out that someone came in and offered some kind of amount over MSRP. Sorry you lost out. I'm saving my $$$ and if there is not a performance SE for 08, will use the save up cash for a supercharger

I think you might be right Ranger, there's something going on that they're not telling me about. I was willing to put down a large deposit months ago and they wouldn't take it. You have a good idea, either way you will have more HP in 08.

Hopefully there will be some SE Mustangs in the pipeline soon. There will be a used market on the GT500s by 08 and before. The turnover rate on this type of car is huge. I've seen more than a few 3rd owner, less than 10K mile Terminators,Z06s, etc. The Corvettes boards have a more than ample supply of 06 Z06s looking for a home. There should be no problem finding a clean low mile GT500 in the 30s a year from now.

A agree with that..some guys can't make payments etc.. and have to get rid of the car.

Doesn't stop dealerships from charging full MSRP on a used car.
That happened(ing) with the Mustang GT too
