Should I get the BAMA X4/SF4 POWER FLASH TUNER for my 4.0?
I've been very tempted to get this tuner for my V6... Hmmmm... The only thing is I'd have to pay a bit more for premium fuel to get the benefits. I made the switch to dual exhaust a few months ago and I love it. I have a pypes x pipe to the intermediate pipes to a pair of flowmaster super 44's. It sounds pretty **** good in my opinion, I'm stoked I made the switch. Do you think I should just take the plunge and do it?
If your concerned about having to run higher octane fuel ? don't let that discourage you.. The X4 includes preloaded calibrations for 87, 89 and 93 octane fuels..
You'll still notice much better throttle response and performance over stock running the X-4's 87 octane tune
Do it. Don't let the higher octane deter you at all. You can get a tune for whatever octane you have available. Even at 93 octane, you're only looking at a few extra bucks for a full tank. I just consider it part of the cost of doing business.
Ask for an emissions tune also when you get it. It sounds like you're lightly modded if you just have exhaust (minus headers), so emissions shouldn't be a problem at all.
Get a tune from someone that does NOT shut off the rear o2 sensors. Bama is not one of those tuners. If you are running to rich or to lean you won't know and it will mess up your cats.... I'm pretty sure that happened to me.
Bama will turn off the rear 02 sensors.. The catch is the customer has to request it !
Request that they turn them on or request they leave them off? Call them and tell them you want all your o2 sensors on and operating with their tune. Please let me know what they tell you.

Glenn ! Yes, I meant to say request to leave them on.. And yes, they did indeed e-mail a revised tune with the 02 sensors turned on after I complained about getting an emission check engine light..

I should have stated if you have long tube headers.
"unfortunately we can't tune for your long tube headers without disabling the O2 sensors."

I honestly don't understand why they feel the 02 sensors have to be disabled in order to tune for long tube headers ? As this makes no logical sense to me at all..
Therefore if tuners like JDM, Brenspeed, VMP, Steeda and Lund can all tune for long tubes without having to disable the 02 sensors, then why can't AM/Bama do the same
I finally got a tuner for my 06 gt, only regret-
not doing it 9 yrs ago.
a lot of the 'feel' is a psyc thing- they open the throttle a lot more with less pedal, makes it feel a LOT spunkier, but even at WOT there is still a noticeable torque improvement...makes the car even more fun to drive.
run the 93, the cost is negligable and mileage goes up if you keep your foot out of it (yeah right) before tune, I averaged 18 daily on 87, averaged 20 daily on 89 or 93, but the car felt balky...with the tune its smoother on 93, still averages 20, so octane cost is offset... really makes the engine 'feel' bigger in everyday driving, and gets a slight burble on downshifts
