Hey Guys...Not sure if this has been covered, so please "be easy" if it has...
Can anyone tell me how long (generally) does it take for a car to be delivered to the dealership after it has been built...? Is there a holdover time or something like that at the plant prior to shipping, or does the car get built and out the door it goes...?
Thanks Guys...
I swear...this waiting is "KILLING" me !!!

The dealers (one of them being the supplier of all the *lies* in my other post) i've talked to said about 6-8 weeks from order to delivery once the factory goes into full production. Add about an extra week if thanksgiving is in those 6-8 weeks, and another 2 weeks if x-mas/new years falls in those weeks. I'll probably order in early november and hopefully get my GT in mid-january.

Finlay,
don't sweat about it... a lot of us are just skeptical and have had bad experiences with dealers promising all kinds of things. Everyone is just taking more of a "i'll believe it when I see it" attitude.
it took a friend about 10 weeks to get his 2001 Mustang GT from the day he ordered it.

I would bet that they hold mustang at the plant until they have enough to ship to that particular state. For example if they build 1 car for washington and a full truck train load for NY state. The 1 car for washington will wait until they have enough for the distribution center in washington.

Usually about 6-8 weeks from ordering from the factory to arriving at the dealer. Your results may vary...
Edit: Right now, ordering a Scion will take this long, and they're made in Japan...

They come pretty quickly after they are made. The order changes into an "in transit" status right after its built. I would think about a week to 10 days is average for our area for a Dearborn car, if even that. An Escape from Ohio or a F-series from Norfolk takes less then a week.

Like you say, there seems to be a lot of talking up being done, without much truth to back it up. It is like that here as well, some dealers saying they will have 10 '05's by the end of September. Somehow, I doubt that!!
