Shifter button stuck when cold?

On cold mornings, I can't press in the shifter button until the car has had ~30 seconds to warm up. Is this a design feature or is something wrong? It's fine when the car has been sitting for less than 5-6 hours.

I would try some WD-40 on it.

Not normal...but also make sure your foot is fully depressing the brake pedal at the same time.

OK, it's hot now here.

Every morning when i start the car, I have to rev the motor before the shifter button will depress. I can let it sit idling after starting for a full minute and it still won't push in. If I rev it to 3000 it will depress a few seconds later.

What the heck is this about?

On most autos the shift release is controlled by a solenoid that is activated by the brake being pushed in. The solenoid my be sticking due to dirt or whatever. Clean it and lube it and it should release better.

My wife's vert did the same thing when we first picked it up. We took it back to the dealer and they fixed it in less than 1 hour, under warranty.

Hey there not sure if its relative or not but on my auto my shifter button would stick after long drives and sometimes I wouldnt even be able to put my car into park cuz the shifter would stick all together.
I took mine to Ford and they replaced it with another shifter...problem fixed.
