I think it gives the Mustang more of a classy look than just the metal one.

You guys think it's metal on top, or just metal looking plastic???

Looks like the same silver stuff on the wheel.

Hope they do something better with the automagic handle too...

I used it last weekend in L.A. It is plastic, though it felt nice.

I like the way it looks. I'd be a bit worried how the plastic would wear over the course of a year or two. I'd prefer it be aluminum, but it still looks good as is.

Ive had 25 cars and god knows how many shifters, metal ***** will friggin fry your hand  The newer "metalized" plastics ford uses in the Escape, Foci, and F-series is quite durable. Even the aluminum cap on the SVT foci shifter will get quite hot. I was on svtperformance a while back they had a thread of "show your *****" and just about everyone had 5+. I cant believe we worry about this stuff. heck I may just get a "cue ball" shifter to match the fuzzy dice

you could also look into getting a skull..with flashing eyes and such. wait...never mind. that's my idea. don't steal it. lol. it does look really nice...metal or plastic.

and you're prolly right kevin, an aluminum shifter would burn the crap outta my hand in a heartbeat. darn texas sun. the steering wheel already does me enough damage as it is.

I guess getting a golf club cover to put over the shifter is out? :P
A good auto-shade prevents the **** or my steering wheel from getting to hot.

I've also found (me anyways) that all leather grips on the wheel and shifter seems to not get as hot as vinyl (and metal).

*edit: i don't think you'd be wrong to use a golf club cover. lol. "hats for bats"

that's kewl. i don't have an autoshade...or even tinted windows. guess my lil' civic is just made to suffer. when i get the 'stang i plan on loving it like a child. so tint and sunshade are a must. it'll also be garaged at all times...work and home. just hope i can keep the 'tards from giving me doordings and dents. :nono:
