She's Gone Boys....I'm Stang-Less
Well I just sold my 06 GT. With two young boys, ball games every weekend, Building a new house, and gas prices, it was time to let her go. It was a bittersweet day. I'm really happy with the buyer. I know he'll take good care of her and He lives in Oklahoma so I'll still see my old car at shows from time to time. I think he's a soon to be TMS member too. I'm not going anywhere. I'll still visit this site daily. I've made some good friends here on TMS. I'll be a Mustang owner again in a couple of years......once we get settled in the new house. I just couldn't justify having that much money tied up in something only I enjoyed.........so now I can look forward to a GT500 (hopefully) down the road. I appreciate everyone's help and advice along the way and I hope I provided some as well.

Hey Rob,
I followed your build up for at least 2 years. While I hate to see you have to sell her...you have to do what best for the family. I hope to see you jump in and post from time to time with the knowledge you acquired building up your 06. You are a very valued member here and I wish you and your family the best. You'll be back in time.

Glad to see you will be visiting with us Stang-less.
Too bad you had to sell the car.
Its stories like yours that make me glad that I'm getting old.
I am past the point of sacrificing stuff.
I'm just trying to save more for retirement.

I went through a similar ordeal 25 years ago, it hurt but time proved it was the right decision to make. It was a good day when you got the GT, the day you get your next Mustang will be even better.

Obviously you've thought this well through and are at peace with it. Enjoy the family and life and someday the right Mustang will come around for you. As it did for me last year. Good luck and see you around the threads.

Thanks for all the kind words guys............I appreciate it and I'll be around. I'm addicted to this dang site! It sucked seing my car drive off, but I know it's the right thing to do at this point in my life for reasons stated above. This wasn't a "have to" sell, but it will give us a better savings buffer for the upcoming house building expense.
Boltz, in reference to your question, If any of you decide to sell your modded up pony, be ready to take a hit on just about every mod except maybe a blower. My car had 7300 miles on it and you can see in my sig. what mods it had. The only mod that I could really add to the price of the car was the Whipple. Everything else I pretty much had to eat. I felt the deal was fair and out of respect to the buyer I can't really say the exact price, but I sold it for somewhere between $1 and $100,000,000,000,000 Ha!

Too bad about the Stang-less situation now OlkaCop. You gotta do what you gotta do. A Mustang isn't the most practical car on the road with only 2 doors and around 20 mpg avg, so I can't blame you.
At $4.25 here in CT for gas (this week), I just did some quick figuring and found that at 10K miles per year, I'm spending roughly $2125/year in gas, which is $177/month, or $40.80/week.
If I was to get a car that averaged 30 mpg instead of 20, I could reduce those costs to $1415/year, or $118/month, or $27/week. A little better...but the problem is finding a 30 mpg car that's as cool and as fun as a Mustang!
And as far as mods not adding any value to the car - you're absolutely right about that, and I think they'll actually hurt the resale value in some cases.

Rob,
All the best to you and your family on the purchase of your new home. Thanks again for all of your advice in helping with my GT500 conversion too, I really appreciate it.
I had done the same calculations. I figured to save the extra $10 to $15 dollars a week, I'd cut back on my McDonalds visits.....so now I'm good!

Sorry to see you have to get rid of your stang. You put a lot of thought, work and money into it but eventually you'll get another one. Thirty years ago I had to let my '65 289 Mustang coupe and my '68 327 Camaro go to purchase a Ford Club Wagon. One of the low points in my life but I managed to get a much better Mustang later. It was a lot more fun responding to fire calls in a pony car than it was in a van.

Im sorry that you had to sell the stang, but you gotta do what's best for the family. I wish you luck getting settled into the new house, and hope you can go for the next stang sooner than later. Welcome to the Stang-less crew!
