Shaker 500 woes
Shaker 500 woes
My shaker 500 has always been picky when it comes to CD-R brands (so far it only likes Fujifilm), but on a road trip, it was especially annoying, to the point where I hit it to try to fix it in the same way you hit a busted TV to fix the picture. Works sometimes. Anyway, it didn't work, and I cracked the plastic lens over the display in the process. So the question is:
Can I get a new front plate for the deck, or do I have to get a whole new radio?
Is there even a chance the dealer will replace it under warranty seeing as how it's defective nature is what made me hit it?
If I've got to get a new deck, what's the price?
Any recommendations for an aftermarket deck?
Thanks

The dealer might replace it if you can demonstrate that it doesn't work right, regardless of the crack. They probably won't fix it just because of the crack though. If you don't have any luck with the dealer, and you have to buy a new head unit, they are going for around $150-200 on ebay, not sure of the price for a new one from the dealer.
Ok, depends on your definition of a "good" dealer. The one I bought the car from has always been good about taking my word for it when it comes to warranty work, but as far as the quality of the service...not so much. I had a rear trim panel that was never fully installed when I bought the car so I had them take it back and fix it, and they just used a metal tool on it to push it back into place and marred up the plastic. So I brought it back and had them replace the whole panel. They did it, but gouged the center console arm rest and installed the panel over the seatbelt! One of many issues getting addressed on Monday. Thanks
I had it once or twice , so I disconnect the battery and re-connect and it them seems fine, seems I have to watch the format of a CD copy , and some CD's when copied have something in it to not let it work 100 % and yet that same CD will work in any computer ??
Yeah its weird. It's in the shop right now, hopefully getting fixed. I brought it in for the radio, a trim panel that when they replaced it, was installed over the seatbelt, the infamous leaking master cylinder cap, and the now well known pitting problem on the horn button. I'm also going to have them look into re-painting where the brake fluid was spilling. They gave me a Loan-a-lawnmower, or as I like to call it, the loan-mower for short (Ford Focus), which is pretty good on gas, and I guess I could go a week without the stang.
