Shaker 500 mysteriously comes on

While driving home from work today, the Shaker 500 in my '08 CS mysteriously turned on!!!

I did not turn it on at all today. May have happened one time before, don't remember.

Anyone else had this issue?

Were you driving with it off completely? I don't think I've ever had that happen, but those Shakers will do some crazy stuff...

Could this be caused by a SJB/water issue?

My S1000 has never given me any trouble (knock on wood)

Well now there's your problem. Just listen to the radio more.

Dunno. Doubt it though. Hasn't rained here in a while and I washed last weekend.

Radio has a mind of its own

I've owned Fords, Mercurys, & Lincolns for years. If there's 1 thing that I've found consistent with all Fords, is that the radio electronics of all Ford models have a mind & lifeforce all their own!

This has happened to me too, most recently I was washing the car with the keys in the garage, and I heard a song playing and thought it was over at my neighbors house because it wasn't the song on the radio in the garage, but I remember thinking "hey, I like that song." Only to realize I could feel the bass as I was washing the car.

I have had it where it would not turn on at all too.

I've had two different cell phone get wet, and they woud both start calling people in out of the blue, so I wonder if this could be a problem with water getting into the electronics.

My car also has a Shaker 500, had it sine 2005, no problems here yet.

Once in awhile mine will turn itself on when I start the car, shuffle's the cd's, and then turns off. Definitely strange.

My door speakers would try to fire up after the car was off, key out, and door opened/reclosed. I would keep going every few seconds and if left overnight would drain the battery dead. Turned out to be the SJB (smart junction box) as the 10 minute delay feature, door plunger, and stereo are intertwined and there was a short somewhere within the SJB. It's been perfect ever since our shop replaced the SJB.

Could that explain the number of owners that report drained batteries on a regular basis?? That'd be a great solution for them!
