Hello All

I have just got my new 05 torch red GT beauty.

I am only having one issue so far with the shaker 500, if I put in any CD that does not have gaps in between songs (not mp3s, just normal store bought CDs) for some reason the shaker still puts gaps in between them.

Any ideas?

Yea, it happens to me as well. I listen to a some dance/trance/electronica cd's that are just one long seamless song from beginning to end. Some are store bought, some I burn myself. They work fine in any other cd player, but the my Shaker 500 puts gaps between the songs. Kind of annoying if you ask me. I have seen here that it also happens to others. Don't know if there is a fix or not though.
jeff

By the way, congrats on you new ride

Ya...common complaint. The Shaker puts pauses between each track.

Haven't encountered this yet as I haven't put any gapless CDs in.

Well, to give Shaker some credit I had a real nice Sony that did the same thing. I bought it 2 years ago for my 00 Stang. It was an Xpod with 7 display colors and XM radio compatibility. I paid $299.00 for it. In other words it was not the cheapest thing.

Oh well

I was hoping this was something that might have been fixed with the shaker TSB.

I suppose Ill be getting a new head unit sooner than later.

A lot of the albums I listen to are gapless.....

Im into progressive metal and progressive rock.

BTW.....This mustang is awesome!!

For "gapless" MP3s you will also be limited to about 80 minutes.
Coincidentally, this is the same length of time on a normal 700MB
CD recorded in .wav.

If you want to be able to play a full 700MB (13 hours) of MP3 music,
you will need to break up the gapless portions into 80 minute, or less,
segments.

The problem is that either on Retail CD's that are gapless they still produce a gap on the shaker 500, its not just mp3's.

I also find the Shaker unit takes far too long to start playing a track once you change tracks manually.

Man, from a programming perspective, the Shaker Makers really dropped the ball on this one. They should be buffering the next song into memory so that it's ready to play with no wait time. In fact, this should even apply when the random order feature is turned on since the next "random" song can be determined at any time. The only necessary pauses should be when switching CDs, or when skipping through songs rapidly (no time to pre-buffer the next song in this case).

OK, this is starting to bother me. I listen to some long CDs, store bought audio CDs, not data, and gapping between songs is annoying. "The Wall" just isn't the same with gaps.

This is not proper function for a CD player. Was this ever resolved?

Not yet. That was the first thing I noticed when playing Rush R30 in the car the day after I bought it. Why the %*$& would they default the player to add gaps inbetween tracks? There must be a way to reflash the shaker to play seamlessly. Maybe a service guy on here can look into it?????

This must only be an issue with the Shaker HU as my single-disc has no problems with The Wall. I'd be seriously annoyed if I had gaps in all those carryovers.

After a year or so you get used to it.. I barely hear it anymore.
Try some pink floyd in there to get you accustomed to it.

I've noticed that too, rather annoying. I'm also a Floyd fan, and The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon just aren't the same with the gaps.

But, the stereo is otherwise pretty nice, so I can over look it. I listen to MP3 compilations mostly, so it doesn't matter a whole lot anyways.

OK, I'm dragging this thread out of the cellar.

Has anyone had any resolution with this?

I went to the dealer, they said it's working as designed. Called Ford customer service, they said I'm SOL.

This is really f-nig annoying especially since the base unit doesn't do it. I'm wondering if the 2007 radio does it. If it doesn't might try to get it swapped out.

You eventually get used to it.
Pink Floyd is the only one that annoys me with the gaps.

I don't. Didn't pay extra for an inferior playback.

Edit: To make this a little more constructive of a comment - I'm curious if any of the changers in the '07 Mustang or any equivalent in other Ford models play the CDs correctly.

MOST MP3 players don't support gapless. To my knowlege, the only portable that does is the Rio Karma (and maybe its replacement). I have never seen a car player that does support it. IDK if my Panasonic does off of CD. I do have an Omnifi in my car and it does allow gapless IF the tracks were ripped in such a way that allows for gapless playback. Fortunately, Exact Audio Copy and Easy CD-DA Extractor both allow this function. Rip your own MP3's at high CONSTANT bitrates, and that should help.

Talking about store bought standard audio CDs. Not data CDs.
