Ok, never even knew about RDS. Read about it in another forum. It's off by default(I guess). Click the menu button and hold it to see if it's on, arrow up or down to turn it on or off. Apparently only certain stations have it, but if they do it shows the name of the radio station and the song title and artist. Pretty cool! I only have 7 stations that I can get that have RDS and only 1 that displays the song info.

This may be old news to some of you but I had no idea about it until now. Hope this helps someone.

Good info to know! I don't listen to radio much, but when I do, one thing I find annoying is how they never say the song and artist. I'll have to tune in my local stations and see if any of the support this feature.

Also a neat feature I found was the volume change.

It is set to default off, but you can turn it on so the volume goes up and down depending on the speed

The auto volume feature rocks!

I also love the preset 'seat position' settings. The drivers seat makes it almost like you're wearing headphones!

RDS is very nice. I already knew about it though. I don't like the auto-volume, though. I find it annoying and it seems to over compensate the volume when driving.

Oh...and to all that are "discovering" things...remember...there's a false bottom in the cup holder, too!! Seems like alot of people miss this.

You can set how much the auto-volume adjusts. I set mine down to 2. Seems to make it just about right. You can go up to 6 or 7, but that was definitely too much.

I turned RDS on earlier (didn't know about it until I saw this thread), but I didn't get anything from any of the stations I listen to. I know of at least one that definitely does it (I see it in my parents car), but it's not a station I listen to.

Guess I'll have to tune to it just to see it work.

What I've found is that most of the stations I listen to didn't appear to have RDS at first. Some of them show the station info after a minute or so. There's only one station that I can pick up that shows the title and artist for every song. The rest of the stations just show the station name.

they show everything(title/artist) if the stations have that in their Name bandwidth. There are 2 types of bandwidth, SNSP (name) and text for the artist info. I had this on my Kenwood, and u would have to change the setting depending on the station. I have not figured out if you can do that with the Shaker yet.

Well there's a couple of different settings in the RDS menu besides turning it on or off. Guess we'll have to fiddle around with it and figure it out.

I looked in the owners manual to see if it said anything about the RDS. It mentions it, but not really in any great detail. Here is what the manual does say about RDS on page 25....
