Is it worth a $1K more than the 500? I listened to the 1000, and I didn't think much of it.

I love it. Just enough sound for me thats for sure. I am sure you can get something better aftermarket wise but for a factory system that you can pay off with the car was selling point for me. I also drive with my backseats down makes the trunk act like a bass box.
But seeing that you allready listened to it and said that you didnt think much of it I think you allready answered your own question

 

Is there a woofer on thr right and left side of the trunk, or just one on the right side?

Just on the right. I like the idea of factory subs cause they are less of a target for those who like to borrow... Only thing I don't like is the car sits with the right side low with the bat and subs on the right.

No it doesnt, the car sits perfectly level and it's completely unnoticable even while driving hard.

I have the 500 and think its more than adequate even if you love to crank up the beats. Plus, I didn't want to lose the trunk space. Never heard the 1000 though....

 

Don't know what it weighs. My car is 3/8" lower on the pass side compared to the left measured from the fenderwell to the bottom lip of the wheel. At least it balances out when my rear end is sittin in the seat!

 

I don't think it weights that much at all. Not enough to cause what you're describing. Weird.

 

I'll have to pull it out and see some time if that is what is causing it. Back to the thread... I love my Shaker 1000, but the 500 still way better than the older Mach 460's. You won't go wrong with either!

 

I don't even think the 500 is worth it...but then, I'm not a big music guy. It would have just been wasted money for me.

 

Depending on where I park in my driveway measuring the fender height will be off up to 1/2" on either side and front or back... But based on your comments, when the driver gets in the car it should sit almost 3/4" lower on the left side.

 

The 500 was good enough for me... I used the extra $1200 towards my new wheels/tires.

 

I listened to the 1000 and the 500 and couldn't tell any difference. So I went with the 500. I know I don't play it as loud as a lot of the younger people though, so maybe that's the dif. If you don't think much of the 1000, you prolly should go the cheapest route and plan an aftermarket upgrade. I'am very happy with my stock 500.

I have the 1000 but only because I wanted my car immediately and didn't want to wait months (you all remember the chaos with the IUP back in January, right ?), so when I found a car like I wanted, I bought it off the lot.
The only difference from the car I wanted to the one I found, was that I was happy with the 500 and surely not willing to shell out 1300 dollars for the "upgrade"...and I still feel the same way...
So, if you ask me, go for the 500, the 1000 is just a big waste of money...IMHO, of course.

If you like the sound of a balanced stereo and were going to add one anyway I would just go with the 1000. And what aftermarket stereos have a standard 3 year warranty (or longer with ford ESP) I have it in mine and I love it. No more messing around running wires and installing stereos. I like how well its integrated into the vehicle too, I think its well designed. It does take a little trunk space, but I didnt buy it to haul things in, thats what my truck is for.

 

There has always been a big debate (and some arguments) on this topic. I opted for the shaker 1000 and I am pretty happy with it. For the same amount of money you can get aftermarket equipment but you would have to spend more to get a custom box designed if you wanted the subs tucked into the corner like the factory option.

 

I wasn't planning on getting the 1000, but bought off the lot in January and it had it.

I leave the trunk subs turned off most of the time, but turn them on when I'm driving on the highway with the windows down (or when I want to annoy the people around me).

I'm not sure if it's worth the money or not, but I never would have spent any money on an aftermarket solution. The Shaker is warrantied, and financed with the rest of the car as well.

As for golf clubs - I can fit 2 sets of clubs in the trunk with the 1000 just fine. You have to take the woods out and lay them next to the bags, but still works for me.

You can also just fold the seats down - it's not like anyone sits back there anyway.

You'll probably get a close to 50/50 response here. Listen to the Shaker 500, and if you like it, get it. If you don't, then you need to decide if you want the 1000 or want to go aftermarket. Doesn't matter either way really.

 

I test drove a GT with a Shaker 1000, and bought a V6 with a Shaker 500. It's a little bit different driving experience, but pretty much the same listening experience. I didn't think it was worth it at all.
