Well, my car finally arrived this weekend and I have been having a blast showing her off. What an incredible car! Ford definitely hit the nail on the head with the 05.

The only problem I have had so far is that I can't get my Shaker 1000 system to read my MP3 cd's. It just plays some horrible screeching noise or says "bad disc." Is there some special way I need to burn the cds? Do all the songs have to be the same bitrate or something? I am using nero and I'm trying to burn songs from my vast MP3 collection (most of which have been downloaded.) I could also use the XP wizard but I haven't tried that. After 6 cds wouldn't work earlier today I got frustrated and just went for a ride instead. I'm open to options, Any help would be appreciated!

I use Music Match Jukebox to burn mine. There is a free basic version at www.musicmatch.com. If you shell out the $20.00 for the full version you can burn the CD's alot faster though. Hope this helps.

I have also used Music Match Jukebox and it works great.
Make sure you are using CD-R's and not RW's.

Also check if you have one of the defective "A" series Shakers. Set it to FM mode and hold down the 3 and 6 at the same time. It will run a self check and at the end will display a string of numbers with an A or B at the end. If it's an A, go to your Ford dealer and tell him your unit is defective and get it replaced under warranty. Make sure they install one of the new "B" series, which supposedly don't have the gremlins that possess the "A" series.

When using Nero, don't select 'music' CD, but instead select 'data' CD.
Move your MP3 files into your project window then burn (just like you would do it with pictures, documents, etc.)

Hope that helps.

I started using the Real Player Harmony software to burn all my music CD's. It's a great application and will change the format to work on virtually any MP3 player or stereo. I haven't had any issues yet, of course I don't have an 05 yet.

I use Roxio 5 ... and burn the MP3s as a DATA disk...

I have a Kenwood head unit, although I'm pretty sure they all read the same way.

either using Music Match Jukebox or Roxio CD Creator, you must burn the songs to the CD as a DATA DISC, not a CD/AUDIO Disc

Winamp is also a good program to you, just the same format, burn all the songs to the disc as a DATA, if you have any techical questions, PM me

I use Roxio Easy CD 6 as well, have a ton of MP3 discs, with bitrates being CBR 192 all the way to 320 and some VBR. Haven't had a single problem with the old Shaker.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I will try roxio later tonight after I get done showing the car off to a few friends who are dying to see it. I'll also have to check and see which version head unit I have. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.

Well, I have tried burning with winamp, musicmatch jukebox, media player, and nero, but still no luck. I even tried a couple different brand cd's (all 700mb cd-r's.) I have one 650mb cd-r I'm gonna burn right now and I'll try it in the morning, but I think I have a defective head unit since the same cd's work fine if i record them as audio cd format. BTW I checked and it is the series "B" unit. Guess the gremlins are still lurking after all. :notnice:

Also I found out today my global window down doesn't work, and one of the covers for the LATCH anchors on the rear deck is missing...so it looks like I'll be making a trip to the dealer in the near future.

I use iTunes, and it works well...as long as you don't put too many folders on the disk. I think I (we) figured out that you can have a maximum of 50 folders. Any more than that....and the shaker simply does not play that folder. Also, iTune's tags your mp3's funky...so that they don't display right....for the mot part. I usually can only get the file name (obviously) and song name. Sometimes the artist shows up.

I am just putting up with it, as I am going to an aftermarket alpine with the iPod link.

How well does that work? I was thinking of getting an ipod since I have about 30GB of MP3's, but I dont like changing the look of the dash (or spending the cash on a new head unit) just to be able to hook one up. If the FM modulator works well I'd consider that.
