Thumbs down

All of the below are the latest to receive a Serialize Date (VIN) and a Segment Date. It might surprise you to see how long it is has been since some of us have ordered. Notice, we all ordered GTs. VINs are in ascending order.

My salesman just told me that mine will be built on 11/6/04. I question the likely hood of this information being acurate, since I don't have a Sequence Date.

On Johnny D, it looks like the dealer may not have put in the order right away? The last 6 digits on all of theirs are pretty close together, even though I know that they aren't building them based on those numbers. But they still issue them in that order.

Question:
I placed my order on Wednesday 10/20, Dealer called the next day (10/21) letting me know my order has been entered in the system and I'll have my VIN on Tuesday 10/26.
Does this sound about right?
What's the average time between ordering, getting the VIN and build date?
I was also told the car would be here in six weeks. Does that seem a little fast for delivery?

clan0013: Well thats good that yours has a segment date. I ordered mine on the 28th or 29th of september, and haven't heard anything as of yet. As long as it gets to my dealer by christmas i'll be satisfied.

Btw, the pic in your profile of you next to the car...are those the TLFs in the background?

It all depends on your dealers allocation I think. I ordered on 10/12,got my dora on 10/13 and still have no vin. I was also told to expect my car around late Dec. or early Jan. Hope that helps some and good luck. I was also the 21st pre-order at my dealer.

It don't think it is possible to narrow down the timeframe it will take for a car to be delivered. I ordered in June, it was build 2nd week of september and shipped Oct 2; and the car is nowhere to be seen, apparently hung up at a shipping yard. I was the first pre order at my dealer, they have received one mustang for the showroom. Until Ford gets their act together, there is no coherent way to narrow down the time frame.

But, good luck.

I had talked to a dealer that told me that all dealers were marking up the Mustangs, so I asked about X-Plan on a factory order. He told me that with all the Mustangs that Ford has on the car it would take at least a year to get the car.
I then called another dealer (one that I've bought/leased several cars from), told him what the other dealer told me about a one year wait. He put me on hold and talked to the inventory manager about placing an order and he came back on the line and said 'let's place the order now (by phone) and the car will be here in six weeks".
The order has been confirmed and I have the cost (car, tax, license, doc fees), and I should have the VIN Tuesday.
I told the dealer that once he has the VIN (and hopfully a build date) I'll come in and pick up the paperwork and give him the $500 deposit.

(This is what my dealer has told me.)My dealer was allowed to order 10 mustangs back in May. I was the third order they received. In September I was told that Ford would only be shipping the first two orders on their first delivery and they were scheduled to be delivered the week of 10/11. As of Friday 10/22 they were nowhere to be found. I did get a build date of 11/08 yesterday so that gives a little hope. There are other dealers in the Central Florida area getting a few cars and they are selling fast. Finally got to see a loaded Black GT in person and it was sweet, very impressed. Not real impressed on having ordered back in May and seeing orders from last month getting Segment Dates the same as mine. I probably should have ordered through a larger dealership but there are not many in this area that I trust so I will keep waiting.

Looks like some got their orders serialized the next day they were received while others had to wait months and months. Wow, what a swing.
