Secured my financing, now BUILD MY CAR!

I just went through all the hoops and got my loan secured. Problem is, after 45 days I'll have to go through it all again. Hopefully they will build it by then, seeing as I've been clean/unscheduled for a month now. Otherwise I may have to go looking elsewhere...

James, I am guessing that you have your financial arraingments through a credit union, or online source? If so, did you mention to them that your ordering your car and it may not come in within the allotted time the check is good for. Same thing for me sort-of. While I ordered my car in August '05, I filled the application out at work a few days later, knowing it was only good for 30 days. When the car came in, we just had to call the bank up who I was using that my car arrived, and to re-start the loan window for me. No big deal. There should not be any issue with you getting another check, if the one you already have has an expiration date on it.

I ordered my car April 3. Same day I went and locked in my financing at the credit union. Received car June 30, picked up check on the way to get the car. That's almost 3 full months.

Yes. but you were serialized within a short time after you ordered. I've had the order in a month already, and still no idea what my timeframe will be.

Em - so that means you don't even have a VIN yet? Go to another dealer if you have to - I'm looking at getting mine this weekend after only 5 weeks from orig order date to delivery......

Yes, I did get the VIN a little more than 2 weeks later but they told me they didn't need it until the day they wrote the check. Even then, with it being an early '07, when they tried to plug the VIN into the computer (seems they run a CarFax on EVERY vehicle loan, even new ones), it didn't recognize it. They said to just stop back by on the way home so they could verfy the VIN. Took about 10 extra minutes to do that.

If its been that long and you still don't have a VIN, I would consider another dealer or at least speaking with the General Manager to find out why it's taking so long.

I'm pretty sure it's taking so long because of allocation issues. They are a small dealership (only one within 12 mile radius) and already had a GT ordered when I came in to order mine. That one hasn't come in yet, so I'm assuming that I'll have to wait until after that one shows up. My salesman thinks mine might be done first because he ordered the other GT as a floor model with a lower priority. I really don't want to go to another dealership - this salesman has been really great and I've purchased other cars from them. I'm thinking about having them look around for one for a possible dealer trade, although I haven't been able to find one on Forddirect.com anywhere within 500 miles.

If you're satisfied that your dealer/sales person is doing everything they can to get your order built, then there is probably no reason for you to switch, especially if the salesman has treated you well in the past.

I had small dealer, small allocation issues too. I waited 5 months to get mine. That doesn't mean you will wait that long, but I think allocation means alot. Your order is only a month old but maybe your salesman could contact his Ford rep and get the ball rolling sooner than later. Play the "my loan is only good for so many days" card and maybe something will happen. What do you have to lose?

It took two months for my order to get serialized and I was from a small dealer too. Once they sold 2 of their 3 2007 models then my order was picked up. So, I agree with the posts above that there probably isn't anything more the salesperson can do.

I was getting all bent when my order wasn't serialized after 6 weeks and I saw post after post of people who ordered after me and already had their cars in hand. It is a cruddy deal but just how Ford does allocations.

I had one of the salesmen on this board do a search for me nationwide for "my car" just in case it happened to be sitting on a dealer lot somewhere. Can you believe this - there's not one car with my particular specs anywhere in the country? There is one close in Missouri, but it has a spoiler, comfort group and satellite radio. I can honestly say whenever I do get the car, it will be one of a kind. Now, Ford, BUILD MY CAR!!!

How in the heck do you not succumb to waiting when you already have the financing? Grabber orange, Vista Blue and Redfire are all looking good to me now! I can't wait anymore!!!!
