Second thoughts...

Not about the car itself, heavens NO!!!

I'm having second thoughts about getting the Comfort Group (passanger power seat, heated seats, electrochromic mirror). For some reason, I thought the mirror had temperature display as well (which is a nice feature). With just a compass though...ehhh...

The price difference between comfort group and just heated seats is appx $250. Is that mirror *really* worth $250??

Yeah I know comfort group has power passanger seats, but I won't be sitting in the passanger side much! So, therefore, that part of the argument is null.

It rocks because the mirror is AUTO-DIMMING! You save all that arm fatigue from having to adjust the mirror!

I am going through the same grief as you. Is it worth $250 for auto-dimming and passenger power seat. Kind of seems crazy.

Keep in mind making the passenger seat power is going to probably add 40 lbs of weight also. Every little bit of extra weight only hurts the performance of the car, and seeing as how power seats are basically useless (how often do you adjust?) I would say don't spend the extra money and increase the weight of the car for something you don't really want.

Darn good points, I think I'll skip the comfort group and just get the heated seats! Saves a bunch of dead weight AND money!

Good enough for my reasons. CHANGED (provided it isn't too late)!

40 lbs...? Try picking up 40lbs - that's a lot of weight. I doubt the "power" mechanism adds anywhere near that much. Probably more like 20 to 25 lbs, which isn't likely to affect your performance at all. I mean, what if another person is in your car - or what about guys who weigh in at over 225 lbs? That would slow performance more.

Also, do we know for certain that the electrochromic mirror that comes in the package DOESN'T have the temperature readout? I thought it did.

You know, if you really think about it, the seat and mirror aren't a bad price if you look at how many people had the Auto-dim mirror installed. I know it isn't a simple 15 minute job to get that mirror in, as you have to wire it all up. If you think down the line that it would be nice to have it, it would be better to get it all factory and such. Just a thought.

I ordered heated seats only on my car even before I knew the prices of the packages. I won't need the power passenger seat much and the mirror without temp/homelink doesn't add much in my opinion. I looked into adding the homelink/temp mirror to my car but it's an astounding $350+ and I'll have to mount the temp sensor and run a wire to it from the mirror. Even though it would be nice (I have homelink controllable X10 lighting throughout my house), I just don't think it's worth the $$$. I'll probably scour ebay for a nice used one from a junker or totaled car - they're all made by the same company anyway.

I'll second that opinion about the mirror being worthless without the temp and Homelink. I use the Homelink all of the time for both garage doors. It ran me about $300, and took a couple of hours to install. It wasn't THAT bad... just running the temp sensor wire through the firewall was the most grueling aspect of the whole job.

I'd get the power passenger seat though - if you don't your passenger seat will be too low and any passengers you have will complain that they are sitting in a well.

Screw that heated seat nonsense. I need some A/C seats. Its freakin hotter than Hell here right now. just a little breeze for the taint and I'd be happier than a pig in ****!! Power seat would be nice for passenger, but I'm usually riding solo,so really don't need it. What would be really cool is to have temp reading when you push info button options.

The price doesn't sound that bad to me, they want $300 for the mirror and install around here. This is aftermarket with temp too, though.

Oops!

Can't change anything since I'm withen 10 days of being scheduled to have my baby roll down the line. Guess I'm stuck with the comfort group. Ah well, still have the heated seats, and the power seat will be nice for the lady.

Ah well. I'm sure that mirror isn't THAT bad. Auto dimming will be a nice feature I'm sure. Does the compass get in the way while backing up, or while checking your 6 in the mirror?

well heres something to think about if you are thinking of getting the passenger power seat. I would say do it. As the passenger seat right now is lower than the drivers. Drivers is adjustable up etc. My fiance right now can barely see over the dash in the non powered seat. So If you want your girlfreind, wife or fiance to be comfortable you may want to get both powered seats, to help with height issues, etc. good luck

JUSTIFY! (I went with just heated seats cause I'm a cheap Esso Bee!)

And the weight thing... (justify!)

I almost lost my eye to one of those mirrors.
You see, the mirrors are wired. In a serious accident, the mirror can come loose from the windshield. The wire lets it hang in the air. If you hit an OAK TREE after going through a telephone pole. The mirror can swing by the wire in front of the partially deflated airbag. It can get between your face and the airbag, causing excesive bleeding to your face.
Normally the mirror would just fall to the floor.
I wish people wouldn't sleep on the road when they are driving towards you across the solid yellow, but they do.
Oh, we wouldn't have hit the pole if he hadn't ripped open both of our driver's side tires when he made contact.(We swerved, but you can only go so far on a 2 lane road.)

Living in florida, i did not want the heated seats, and was not interested in the mirror, But what would be nice if they had Climate Control A/C and then it can really be called Comfort Package. cannot see how electro mirror, and compass is part of a comfort package. I rather put that money into painted racing stripes. When you live in Florida, you know the temp it is "HOT".
