Hey i was just wondering something. Now im not saying that i don't wear my seatbelt because you definitely should..but i do think that the seatbelt alarm is really annoying and specially if you have a passenger who doesnt where their seatbelt because then the alarm still goes off....I would like to hear some opinions on this or solutions ...besides the obvious of wearing the seatbelt...

Thanks

Tell them to put the seatbelt on or get out of the car. There, problem solved. Is it really that hard for them to wear it?

I don't own a Mustang yet (ordered a 2006 2 weeks ago), but I do own a Mercury Mountaineer, and the manual tells you how to turn off the seatbelt alarm. Since they're both Ford products, the same info may be in the Mustang manual.

Theres a way to disable it. You like plug it in and out like 9 times and turn off the car or something. Look it up in the manual. Page 90 something I think.

His safety is his responsiblilty. As he stated, he wears the belt, but sometimes circumstance would have it that he/others would not. Is it safer for his not to have his belt on and be driving along, or be pissed at the beeper and lose foucs, crash, and die because the belt wasnt on. We don't really need to alert him about the dangers of not wearing belts by now, everyone living on the planet who can drive has bound to have heard it at least a billion times. I would rather be nice and help the guy out rather than tell him what hes already heard far too many times already.

I had the same problem in our F-150 this weekend. We really don't need seatbelts riding around our ranch but our pickup would not shut the heck up. We tried to disable the alarm but it didn't work. We finally just plugged them in and sat on them.

...anyone know how to disable the brake lights, while we're at it?

...and the airbags?

...what's this I've been reading about "crumple zones"? Can I get my car without them?

Not to start any poo, but I recently got annoyed with the seatbelt alarm.

I live about 75 yards away from my mailbox. I typically start my car, let it idle for a min, get in it, drive a whopping 75 yards to my mailbox, get out while the car is still running, retrieve my mail, get in my car, BUCKLE MY SEATBELT, then drive to work.

The seatbelt alarm won't allow me to do that in peace.

Other than that one exception, I love the seatbelt alarm. You have no idea how many times it's gone off and I'm like, "WTF aren't you wearing your seatbelt!" (to my passenger).

Clockworks- I agree 100%, I am abou 1000 ft from the mailbox ( still in my own yard, not out on public roads ) the alarm starts about halfway there.

If you read the manual, you can disable the alarm independent of the seating (ergo, you can disable the alarm for the driver and maintain the passenger alarm.)
