SCT II Question

Ok, so I know that the SCT II allows you to see the problem codes for a tripped check engine light. The question I have is, can you then reset it with the SCT itself or can you only view them so you can fix something and see if the light goes away?

I read somewhere that the car will automatically reset it after ~25 starts.

Sorry for the noob question.

The SCT II allows you to reset the code.

Just thought of something else. I know I can get 3 tunes preloaded into the SCT X-2. Can I also "undo" a tune and put it back to factory settings if I ever need to? I'm thinking if there's an oil crisis it would be nice to pull out the CAI and set it back to factory settings so I can use 87 octane.

I think this is my last question about this. Just trying to do some homework.

Yes you can flash it back to stock. It's also useful if you need warranty work done.

Good choice on the XCal2, now you just have to decide which tuner to go with.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with Doug over at Bamachips. I've read nothing but good things about him. I'll also probably get his Perf/Torq/Race tunes all in 93 octane.

Excellent choices, the Race Tune is my favorite!

I would not be a bad thing to get his 87 tune... It will give you better performance and gas milage than the stock tune... are real plus if you are going for a long trip. You can buy tunes from Doug (and others) and keep the tune files on your computer. Then, lets say you love the performance and race tunes in 93 but the say you don't really care for the torque tune, you can load up the 87 performance tune on the tuner and have that setting available when you might go on a long trip.
I am going to get 2 - 93 octane tunes and the 87 tune as I will be using the car on long trips and I don't want to worry about fuel prices and quality.

I think John can personally vouch for Doug's Race Tune!

So, can somebody explain briefly to a novice what to do if your car throws a code? Sorry if this is a ridiculous question.

Don't count out Brenspeed. I picked up 3.5 MPH and over 3 tenths of a second in the 1/4 mile from stock to a C&L CAI and Brenspeed's 93 octane tune!
