I have heard the rumours that the 05 has pre-orders for 50,000 units. I have also seen the impressive sales figures for past years. Anybody think the 05 will crack the top 10, and has the stang ever been the top seller in the US (or 2nd to the f-150)?

Only recent stat regarding the 05 mustang I've seen is that it blew away the GTO in sales in the first 6 months of the year. Considering the order bank only opened for the mustang on may 24th, thats a decent mark of where this car is going and where the heavily powered/poorly styled GTO is headed. I anticipate this years model will break records as the market for this car spans the 21-60 age group. Has any car appealed to such a wide group in the past? Other than the vette I don't think so!

this better wake up GM and make them redesign the goat's exterior. that new gto judge that was shown a while back would be a pretty good improvement if it goes into production

As of August 31 GM had sold only 5,551 GTO's this year (Jan - Aug 2004). Ford sells about that many Mustangs every 2 weeks.

August was the best month so far for the GTO with sales of 967. So it looks like the rebates and deep discounts are starting to boost GTO sales. And to think that the dealers around here wanted $5K over sticker when the GTO first came out.

The 1964.5 Mustang sold the most cars of any introduction-year car...

The "Our Hotcakes sell like Mustangs" quote in my sig is from a sign in a New York diner from 1965...just a fun tidbit
