What price should I expect for the install of my Saleen S/C on my automatic 2005 Mustang GT?

Thanks

Just talking out my a$$ since I don't have one but I'd say whatever the shop charges for 6-8 hours of labor.

If that's not including the price of the SC they should be reported for extortion.

If you have any questions, you should ask Hi Roller on the forums here. He just got one installed at JDM. He is loving it.

If you put one in yourself

If you put one in yourself I can help you since I did the job. If you have no tools it will cost you about 300 dollars in tools and supplies. Let me know if you need any help.

I got a price of 6200.00 installed, that is just for the blower, and approx 1360.00 for the install..

I also added the upgrade kit for another 1000.00 and 2 hrs labor...

Broke down like this: 4800 for the blower/16 hrs install + the add on kit..
Remember that the install is just an estimate...

Just though I'd add the fact that they are allowing 16hrs for the install on the estimate...

I think that is a rip off to charge you an extra for the upgrade kit if you had the upgrade put in at the same time. The fuel rail and injectors have to come out even when you install the the regular supercharger kit. The airbox and tube also are removed in the regular job. Other than that you have to change a pulley. Some installers are crooks.

Like Leo, I don't have a S/C either. But, if I were to get one, I'd go for the install myself. I've seen the Saleen units as low as $5k.

I actually got an estimate from a ford dealership for $900, with warranty and everything, if I install it myself do I get a warranty? or no? Warranty was the main reason I was going to have them do it.

I think the Dealer warranty is for their workmanship. The S/C is warrantied under Saleen, regardless of who installs it.

edit: I remember seeing that Saleen offers a longer warranty if installed by an authorized Dealer?

Question is, will the Dealer mechanic take the time and upmost care to do everything right? Maybe some, but I'll bet not all.

Put it in yourself. It is not difficult and Saleen does the tune so there should be no worries. Taco Bill is right in saying that no one will take the time and care that you would putting the parts in.

Another thing of note here is the saleen flash, not only have I heard that it is less than desireable, but I talked to Saleen regarding their flash, and it is set up for 91 octane, and if you have other mods (like headers, high flow cats etc...) it may cause the engine to run lean...

So, considering that, it's probably a good idea to have it dyno tuned... (well that's always a good idea but, more so in this case)

Like I said... $7200... That's a grip, I wish I had it! Guess I will have to love my CAI and tune for a LOT longer!
