Saleen hood with stock front end, yay or nay?

I might have a chance to pickup a Saleen hood for my car. The problem is I'm not sure what it will look like with the stock GT bumper cover. What are your opinions, should I do it or not?

I've always liked the Saleen hood. Found one on a Bullitt:

Thank you, I've been looking for pictures of that hood with the stock bumper. Can anybody find one with a lighter color?

Also, does anybody know if the hood louvers are functional?

i say nay. i really like Saleen Mustangs, but the hood just doesn't look as good without the Saleen front to go with it. just my opinion though.

I say yay, and I believe the hood vents are functional. If you're not interested, let me know, I may be.

I say yes, but you have to change the grille. My Wife's Vert was screaming for a Saleen hood, but we never did it. I think if you make the car look wider, then it will be good. You need a new grille and at least a 1.5" drop on a car for it to work.

Does this car not need a Saleen hood?

Do it, if you don't like it later trade it for something else.

I have a couple concerns about it still, hopefully some people here can give me some answers...
  • Will having no hood liner have ANY adverse affect; hood shacking, more noise, etc.
  • I was told that this hood does not have functional louvers, will water tend to pool up inside these faux-louvers?
  • The car it's coming off of is a late (August) 2005, mine is an early (September) 2007; will there be any color matching problems?

Its not one of those duracrap ones is it? Their colt knock off is just a piece of crap and I can
tell you all the things wrong with it too.

Just grab a used Saleen metal one. Ebay has one every few weeks or so.
Stay clear of the fiberglass or plastic/fiber monsters that are out there.

Course it was raining on me...

I'll reply too even though this thread is old and the OP probably made a decision long ago, since it might help someone else.

I've got the Saleen hood with the stock front end and it looks fine. A lot of people throw on aftermarket hoods without changing the front end and no one seems to question it, so I don't see why the Saleen hood should be any different. I think the Saleen hood is actually a lot more subtle and stock looking than some of the hoods out there.

To answer some of the other questions:
I may have noticed a little more noise without the vents and lack of liner, but nothing really to worry about (in fact, some might consider the extra engine noise good). And the vents are technically functional, although you're probably not really going to see any noticeable performance improvement under normal conditions. But it does make me feel better knowing those ducts actually go somewhere and aren't just attached with double-sided tape, and may actually be helping to keep the engine a tad cooler.

I sat DO IT, DO IT NOW (in a Aarnold tone of voice, lol). Its the ONLY hood I want, as its still aluminum, and will hold up better than any of the fiberglass ones, and also take paint better than those. I keep my eyes open for one but no luck yet.
