The Saga continues...

So driving to the range in Rodman's Neck, I was cruising right along on the NJ Tpke headed north (right passed exit 18N and before the Vince Lombardi service area) a truck headed south decided to rearrange the front of Angie's face with a HUGE sheet of ice from his roof! (insert every curse word you know, heard, can imagine and some you never heard of here!!!)

It was a two lane stretch on highway I was in the left lane, a truck was in the right lane and there was a car right behind me. So basically nowhere to go, as a truck in the south bound left lane has two pieces of ice fly from it's roof. The smaller piece falls to my left into the shoulder and the HUGE piece hits me dead on in the front. This kills cause I've been leaving Angie in the driveway all winter during this horrible weather to avoid any accidents and the one nice day I take her out this happens. Back to the shop again!

The damage isn't major but it's more than it should have been. You can see the damage from the pic and the radiator was damaged as a lot of the antifreeze ended up on the shoulder when I pulled over.

So how was your day?

That really sucks bro. I know what you mean as I usually dont take my car to many stores on errands and the one day I took it to Home Depot someone clips the front bumper and leaves. As long as no one got hurtr, it can all be repaired.

A similar thing happened to a friend of mine. He's driving down a 4 lane highway when a SUV passes him in the right lane, sending a large chunk of ice from his roof straight into the rear passenger side window of his van, shattering it. It kills me when I see people driving around with a foot of snow on top of their roof. Are they really that ignorant and lazy? I'm sure a large enough piece of ice traveling at speeds in excess of 45 mph could break the windshield and cause you some serious harm. Is it hard for other people to think this way?

In nj it's a law that you must clean your car of snow and ice. If you could get a plate number they would have been responsible to fix the damages to your car. Sorry to hear this it sucks people just don't care

Did you get a plate number and file a police report? Similar thing happened to me 2 summers ago when a pickup truck was spilling screenings (little stones) from his bed and bumper...I had no where to get away from him as it was on a crowded highway. Got his plate and filed a report, got my entire car repainted at zero cost to me....not even a deductible.

Couldn't get a plate or even a company since he was traveling south and I was heading north. All I saw was a white semi in the south bound lane and then the two pieces of ice flying off the truck that flewacross the turnpike divider into my lane. Didn't even call the police since I had no information to give them and no witness to back me up.

Ahhh, I was under the impression you were driving behind him. That sucks.

This sucks hard and its the #1 reason my car stays in the garage this time of year. There are so many uncontrollable variables out there with all this crap around, I'd rather just not take the chance.

Home town is Old Bridge by the way. I frequent the Race Zone for pizza.
