Wheel hop can be fixed for $200 with Steeda or similar lower control arms, just FYI.

mines 5 yrs old, 41k on it now, was rattle free till last week...leaving funeral home dark parking lot, hit a low approach pulling out, thumped the bottom of the bumper enought to scuff it up, but ever since, theres a LOUD squeak/rattle right in the center of the dash...love the car, but going to have to pull the dash down and see whats up in there.

regarding suspension, I noticed when changing the oil at a year old even, the rubber in the control arm bushings and tierod/balljoint boots had degraded- cracks around all the boots, cracks around the big lower control arm bushings...I kinda think they might have sourced more than just valvestems from china. a shame some of the penny pinching things all manufacturers do, but still- love these cars.

On the bright side, when you fix it you can put better parts in it! I think it will feel more rewarding and fun to do the fixes on a Mustang than on a Civic? I know every time I had to do a repair on my Accord I hated it. Too complicated, to small, too expensive, too much!

Sorry to hear about your problems... This is my 5th Mustang and it's by far the best built one I've had.

Definately take it to the dealer again now that you can replicate all your gripes every time you drive. From what I've read, your car seems to have more issues in the suspension and rattling than my 20 year old F150, and that's just not right

I admit I have the rattles and my rear shocks just kicked the bucket...
but it certainly isn't the worst car I've had.

It's a lot better than it used to be. No car is perfect.

Dealers are normally the first to tell you..."you should really replace your (insert wear item here) because its getting close to being worn out"

If its within their tolerance, how can it be so terrible?

What I meant by that is that all bolts, screws, fasteners etc are torqued to spec.

At the time the car was in the shop (several months ago) they couldn't replicate the sounds I was starting to hear.

Sorry to hear about your car's problems. But spend $300 in control arms for the rear axle and your axle hop days are gone. That alone will make a huge difference. And yes you can spend thousands upgrading ur suspension (hell I spent 2k), but it pays dividends in smiles and in my experience, the beefier performance parts tend to last longer

If you're going to keep her, start modding the suspension. Stock pieces are marginal at best.... and hold the car back from its true potential anyway.

My '06 has about 6000 miles of track use..... The only rattles are from the rear lower control arms but then again they do have heim rod ends so it's metal on metal.

I had a hunk/clunk in the front end when I bought it and Ford replaced the upper strut mounts, the lower control arms, and the sway bar end links and the car still had that clunk…..It turned out to be the engine cradle wasn’t toqued correctly and that was what was making all the racket…..

I’m guessing you drive your car on a daily basis.

A lot of folks have related what you can do so I’ll just reaffirm them with a list of what I would do to you car.

1. First get you car on a lift and re-toque everything. This includes your engine cradle, you would be surprised.......

2. Then go out and buy a set of quality adjustable shocks, I'll leave the name brand to you because this like all things is open to everyone’s options.

3. At the same time you NEED to replace your lower control arms. Get fixed length, boxed or DOM tubing with poly ends, make sure the poly end have zerk fittings so you can lube them, just make sure you tell the guys when you get the car serviced not to lube the lower control arms you will need to do this because they might use a petroleum based lube and you don't want that.

4. Panhard clunk sounds like the bushing are gone, for that I would get a fixed length bar and upper Panhard Rod Support brackets.

I know from you post you don’t want to “throw parts” at your car hoping for a fix but from my experience and a bunch of friends with S197s, these parts will fix your suspension problems and make your Mustang feel like a new car.

You can do all of this in your garage over a Saturday, you will just need to go to a parts store and borrow a spring compressor. Don’t forget to use “locktight” on your nuts…..

BMR Fabrication would be my stop for all of the suspension hard parts leaving you to look at shocks.

To fix the rattle in you e-brake you just have to do a little detective work and isolate and fix that……

Your dash rattles same thing…..

.
Mine migrates, first it was the top of the handle, then it was only the release button, now it is neither the handle or the button, but the underside of where the arm has the angle.

07 GT - had over 70k on the ODO when I traded it in, never had any real problems to speak of and didn't have any rattles in the car until I switched to a much stiffer suspension. Folks have an 07 GT and aside from wear and tear it runs great, current car is an 09 GT500 and clutch issues aside, its been a great car.

I've bought 7 Fords in the last 10 years and I will admit that my Mustang is a good f++kin car.
