Not sure if any of you guys caught this week’s Mythbusters. They were testing whether a car has better traction on snow in reverse. They were testing a front drive, rear drive, and an all wheel drive car. The rear wheel was a GT/CS vert in white. It seems that it is Tory’s car, although they didn’t mention this. The results were: Yes you get better traction in reverse but you lose control.

 

Good catch! I'm pretty excited now since I have it on TiVo but haven't watched it yet.

 

Actually, that was a V6. It's funny that they covered up all the badging, because everyone knows it's a Mustang anyway. That was a good episode.

Ya i saw that episode also. I thought the mustang did pretty good i always thought rear wheel drive cars were the worst to drive in snowy conditions but it came pretty close to the front wheel drive car.

 

It's all about the tires.

 

It's also all about geometry. Cars have caster for a reason. That was the stupidest Mythbusters I've seen, I only finished watching it because of the Mustang. If a car had better steering in reverse, we'd all be driving rear-steer cars where the steering wheel would turn the rear wheels. And yes, cars have better traction when there's weight on top of the wheels... hillbilly's figured that out a long time ago with their pickups.

 

The chick on that show, Carrie, is a little hottie! Love that red hair!
