Surfn and I were at the Rods and Woodies show yesterday in Encinitas and for the most part eveyone loved our cars, I had so many people stop and check out my car more so than most of the other cars there, funny side story is that there was an 05 vette parked right next to mine and no one noticed it including myself until the topic of the vettes came up, lol. but we heard several people walk by and said things like "its too new," "wrong show" or "you can go to any Ford dealer and see one of those" I would like to know what Ford dealer around here they are speaking of, Mossy in PB is the only one I know of with a single GT on their lot, they are hard to find, not to mention if they knew anything they would notice that our cars arent stock. I dont take too much offense to the comments, it just shows their ignorance, but to say so right to us or in ear shot is just rude, I always thought that the car enthusiast mentality or what it truely means to "hot rod" is to except everyone and appreciate cars in general, oh well. Actually one guy (who turned out to have a sick blue shelby said "finally a GT, you dont see any of these just a whole bunch of V6s" as he walked up to my car.

here are some pics from the show......

Sweet pictures. It's amazing the comments you hear. the last time I ran a locate, there was not a GT to be had within 100 miles of us and there are a ton of dealers.

I know what you mean. The last car show I was in I had someone say to me "You car doesn't belong in this show" to which I replied "last time I check the title was "All makes and models, old and new"

I've always known not to expect everyone to like it but hey, when I see a car I don't like at least I know to keep my trap shut.

I know what you mean! The other night I went to a smaller cruise and asked the guys that appeared to be the organizers if they knew of any bigger cruises around the area. They told me I should go to one of the shows/cruises with "those hoppers." "Hoppers," I thought to myself, "what the heck is a hopper." A guy with 3 teeth continued, "yeah, the show with the cars with hydraulics." I was offended by that comment. I drive a Mustang! A muscle car! It was at that point that I realized these guys could not have been true car fanatics.

its not just the people in ghetto cars, I went to a show a while back at Pauma Casino, Rods and Muscle Cars all years, and got it from several of the owners, I never expect to win at these shows with such heavy competition nor claim that my car deserves the mad respect that some of these others do, but there is no need to be rude, I am out to have fun and show of my pride and joy, I am sorry that I am not old and wasnt born in 1940 and am the original owner of some garage queen or sorry I didnt just go buy a completed hot rod, I am working on my car myself and making it my own, and I take pride in it and would like to share with others, thats all, hey anyone can just buy a car, new or old.

Funny thing is I felt the same way as those people when I went to my first car show. I was expecting only old cars. (I started out as a fan of only the 1st generation Mustangs) The new ones seemed like they didn't belong.

I was 12 at the time.
Maybe these people are still 12 mentally.

Rude, blunt, sad, but partly true.

The negative comments are always there on these type of shows and usually come from those who drive a lesser challanging form of transportation. Eventually one can get tired of the show scene. I personally got tired of it and realized that shows were not important to me, driving was.

Yeah, I've only gone to a couple shows and as much as I like looking at other cars, I don't like "showing off"... And that's the whole point of a car show.

I like your car

It just goes to show you who has pride in their car.

Car looks great, and if you like showing it off, by all means do it!

Just got back from a car show in Orlando w/ MTAS, MustangShadow, Burke0011, and of course myself. The first thing we here is some redneck lady yell "Your cars are out of style." I'm thinking 'ya mean the one that dealers are selling for over MSRP if they can even keep them on their lots?' Jealousy drives most of these comments.
On a side note, it was fun driving all of us in and around the show together. And the positive comments far outweighed the negative... I'll post pic's tomorrow.

Yeah it was a great time with everyone, and I agree that it's jealousy. People will justify not being able to have one by knocking it down. :notnice: Looking forward to Moroso in October!

Here's a pic as promised. I'll be uploading more at 2005Stang.com if you want to check them out. What was cool is at the end of the show, we all lined up and the cars paraded throught the 'little town' with all the spectators lining both sides of the streets. All 4 of us were in a row and I was #3 and you could keep hearing people saying 'oh cool, there's another one' and 'look, all the Mustang's are together'. We made a presence.
There were also a bunch of ricers there that made comments like "They didn't do anything to their cars" ... we don't need to. Wanna rice? oops, Freudian slip, I mean Wanna race?
