rotors

I have a 2007 Shelby GT (check out my intro thread). I plan on getting some new rotors after my roushcharger gets installed. Is anyone on here using the DBA cross drilled slotted rotors? As of now thats the ones I have picked out along with Hawk ceramic pads. Any info from anybody on the rotors??

I looked into rotors a while back and ended up getting the centric blanks with the black hats from amazon.com. The rotorpros use centric and drill them. These are not really good track rotors and the drilling doesn't really benefit anything but looks. The blanks are probably more suitable for track use as the drilled tend to crack. Otherwise they seem to be good quality. If I remember correctly the DBAs are better but costs is considerable.

I have the DBA's that are slotted, but not crossed drilled. They performed great at a 2 day road course track event. I matched them with Hawk DTC 70 pads, SS brake lines and Motul high temp brake fluid. This is the only experience I've had with them, but will have more to come next year.

They were under 60 each for front and under 30 each for the rear. These are more an OEM replacement but I've read of people using them for light track.

This is what I use/recommend.... They are $69 each, but fully coated, won't rust, meet all OEM specs, and aren't drilled (which weakens the rotor significantly and takes swept area away).

That review from Sam is all you need -- says he uses and likes them, and just happens to sell them as well. No further input needed as far as I'm concerned.

What would you like to know? Done hundreds of sets for the F-bodies. Fewer for the Mustang, but never an issue. The coating doesn't chip away, Ate makes OE brake parts for most all the European companies (Germans in particular use a lot of Ate components). They are a division of Continental/Teves. Not a lot of folks know the Ate name (pronounced Ah-tay fwiw) but it's one of those names you really know if I work on cars a lot.

Hey Sam, this is the first time I've seen these rotors. I've never seen that star patern on a rotor before. I will probably need some new ones before next season so I'm looking for something that will be able to take some heat without warping. Do you think those will do the trick with some hawk HPS or HP plus pads?

You sure you're worried about warping and not about uneven pad/friction material deposition on the rotor surface??

Thats interesting. It makes sense because one time I had a small vibration that went away after a few autocross runs right in a row that worked the brakes really hard. I guess the runs rebedded the pads and made the surface even again.

That would be the same. I used the blue fluid last change and found those rotors but couldn't find much info on them. I saw a post on an import forum of some kind with them (I think it was a Nissan or possibly Mercedes). There were good pictures but not much in the way of quality or testing. The pattern kind of turned me off because it looks gimmicky. Not really as tried and "true" I guess. I finally decided to stick with what looked like a solid inexpensive rotor in the centrics. I had just purchased quite a bit of suspension stuff so I held back on the spending with brakes.
