Hey everyone I just thought I would post some #'s from my weekend road trip. I started friday night. left my house and cleared all the info on my 05. I had just filled her up on my way home.

Kinda felt like the "Blues brothers" full tank of gas and a half a pack of smokes..... lets ride!

Ok... the #'s
average MPH 70
average MPG 22.1
gallon's used 25
Miles driven 530
Miles on car when leaving 945
miles at finish 1,475

Time of trip 7Hrs 39Min 23Sec
This includes all stops from my driveway to Cincinnati and back.

Sounds like good numbers for a V8 I know I will be happy if I get 22 mpg on mine.

decent numbers for the V8

it would be even better if they had a deep 6th gear, but oh well.

probibly would have better #'s if my foot would have let me drive the speed limit. Hehehehe. I was running with an Audi A4 for 200 miles running between 85 and 90. It was soooo sweet, I kept asking my wife.... does it feel like we're running 90? What a car!!! smooooth.

darn 22 is a little low but I guess if you were running hard for 200 miles then that could do it. I have a feeling a little woot was going on with that A4. My Accord is listed at 28 Highway but I usually get 28 to 30 when I travel and I run 80 to 90 mph a lot. Just thought the Mustang mpg would run a little higher then the EPA listing.

Remember this includes about 20 miles of stop and go city traffic. friday night we stoped at walmart and then some fast food and then in bumper to bumper traffic for the next 15 minutes. All totaled it seems like it took us 35- 40 minutes to actually get on the interstate.

The 22 mpg is good I think. Especially with the city traffic in the areas you were traveling through. Murr, remember your car is a rice burner and will get much better MPG then the V8 GT.

Well...the matching speeds with the Audi didn't help your mileage either.

Nice to get more data, though.

Steve, I don't really think it would make that big a difference.

The car only revs like 1500 or so in 5th at highway speed. You might even lose some milage since you'll have to downshift to pass all the time.

Not to be depressing, but the Vette will get near 30 mpg on the highway (according to spec -- but I have a friend that swears he gets it in his). A lot of that is that it is lower and lighter. But even the Dodges do decent (they switch off 4 cyclinders when they don't need them). I bet Ford could get another few MPG if they wanted to, without hurting performance....

22mpg, sweet. That is pretty good, better than my 97 GT and way better than the 2003 Jeep I am trading in. That will make my wife happy. The money I will save in gas can be spent on mods

The vette costs 45k, the dodges cost 30k and up......

The stang can come fully loaded for less than the dodges. Kind of hard to compare the three IMO.

Yes, the Vettes get this MPG, but they weigh several hundred pounds less than a Mustang, are much more aerodynamic, and require the 6 speed to achieve this figure. It is still amazing that a 12-13 second car with 350+ HP gets this kind of fuel efficieny.

22 MPG is just about what I averaged on my little trip up to Traverse City MI......Funny thing about the speed comment, I kept asking my wife the same thing, "How fast do you think we are going?" "Smooth @ 95, isn't it?"

I swear, when the speed limit dropped to 55 in areas, it was like you were standing still!

Very impressed with the ride on the highway!

Thanks for the #'s

Mike

You know.... the worst thing about the road trips I take are she "My wife" seems to always want to keep the "high speed" title. Currently standing at 127 MPH !! I told her it didn't feel like we where going a MPH over 85.
