Ok i havent been drivin my stang that hard at all... a few burnouts here and there.. but anyways the mpg is at 14.1.. i dont know if its because i just got it yesterday and i hear it should be around 20 but ya in not even 48 hours i already put 212 miles on it lol
If it's a brand new motor and you've already done a few burnouts w/ only 212 miles, then you are driving it hard, even if you aren't redlining every shift. Give the motor a chance to break in, and your foot to lighten up, then your gas mileage will improve.
I think you all need to explain the break in to him. Just telling him to do it isn't going to help. As for the MPG, yep that looks about right. The faster you go the more gas it sucks. If you keep the RPM under 2k all the time then you get the sticker MPG. If you drive it like a normal person it goes down. Although on the highway I do pretty good if Im cruising around 70ish.
LOL!!!
Actually, I'm getting 20.6 mpg according to the computer in mostly city type driving (7 miles to work, 4 stopsigns, 6 stoplights), and that isn't babying it. Been as high as 27.8 on a highway trip and the computer seems to be pretty accurate to me. Didn't do that well until after about 1500 - 2000 miles though.

I've bit my tongue for weeks, but I am really starting to fear for the future. While I am looking foward to a happy retirement - I am getting a hint who's going to be running the country.
I see a new pony in need of a Ford crate engine soon.

I only drive mine hard - no burnouts, but aggressive acceleration all the time [5 spd.] My milage is just under 3,000.
Most of my driving is around town in a suburban setting which includes 55 mph thoroughfares.
Gas milage is consistently 14 to 15 mph.

Read the owners manual on break-in period for the car. I believe page 5. Just a hint excesive load (burn-out) on the engine before 1000 miles is not good. Your MPG will go up after intial break-in and first oil change. At this point dont's be concerned with the number's.
You confuse jealiousy with concern for him and every other person on the road in his area. Not to mention the insurance rate increase all of us pay when someone his age wrecks. Yes not just his age wreck but the statistics are what they are. I dont live in his state or area so I guess I am safe anyway.
I don't think I've ever owned a car with such a difference between freeway cruising and 'on-the-street' (
) playing.
On my commute to work (50 miles, 70 mph) I can easily get 25+ mpg. But I doubt if I do much better that 14-18 on surface streets/stop and go.

All the other B.S. aside, don't worry about the gas milage, it will go up on it's own no matter what you do.
When I first got mine, I only got about 11 mpg, once it had about 5k on it, I got 20 mpg combined city and highway.

New car = New engine. Like its already been said. Drive it gently for a few.
dumbist thing i have seen someone post here yet..... if i am mature and dont race and make good decisions about driving it then i will have no worries.......knock on wood
