I'm thinking (may be wrong) that this is the first recall for the 197's

You should have stated in the title that it is an aftermarket part recall notification, not a Ford recall notification. A bit misleading.

I'm going to update the thread title

This is an aftermarket part and is not an OEM recall

Like I said, this came from Edmonds.com verbatim. And AAA linked it to my car. I am asking my dealer right now to figure out if it applies to my car. I know that it says aftermarket, but I got the impression that it might be up to the discretion of the plant on which struts that they use. I admit that it is confusing, but why would AAA link it to my car specifically?

Is Eibach a supplier for the OEM Ford struts?

No.

This is a 100% EIBACH problem. Nothing at all to do with Ford or the factory warranty.

I believe that they are McPherson, but I could be wrong.

Sorry, I mispelled the name. The front struts are Macpherson struts.

I'm wondering if these are FRPP struts? Why else would Ford get involved with a recall for aftermarket parts unless they were sold through Ford or its dealers .

FORD is not involved in this recall in any way. It is a recall of an aftermarket part. FORD doesn't install this part on any cars.

The MacPherson strut is a type of suspension part, named after Earl S. MacPherson who developed the design. This thread is about the manufacturer of a strut, which in this case is Eibach.

I'm not trying to but there's a big difference in the terminology.

I misunderstood it to mean aftermarket parts sold through Ford dealers.

Question

Isn't Eibach the manufacturer of the FRPP suspension parts, which are sold by Ford dealers?? If they are this is a problem for me because I'm about to install that particular kit.

People, read closely...

CERTAIN AFTERMARKET EIBACH BRANDED FRONT STRUTS ONLY,
Eibach branded means they say EIBACH on the struts.

Allow me to put an end to this bickering.

This Recall is a voluntary ROUSH recall affecting some Stage 2 cars and ALL Stage 3 cars.

Now play nice.

LBJay; I don't kow if your post was refering to mine but the FRPP suspension parts that I've installed already do have an aftermarket manufacturer's name stamped on them, for instance the billet sway bar clamps. I think it's Eibach, unfortunatley I can't check because I'm 2000 miles from my car right now. So I'm asking again, does anyone know if the FRPP suspension kit struts are manufactured by Eibach and if so would this recal apply to them? Thanks!
