Has anyone had any luck putting a rear facing child seat in the rear passenger seat of a 2005 mustang? If possible, is someone able to ride in the front passenger seat with the rear facing child seat in the back seat?

Thanks!

Does it even matter in the rear? I thought the whole reason you need a turned around child seat is because of air bags. There are no air bags in the rear seat.

With any child seat in the Mustang the people upfront will have their seat up a bit. The rear facing seats are for small babies to spread their mass across a seat not a seat belt, they are very bad in the front because they will be hammered by the air bag. The best thing to do is to contact your state police, ours will help set the seat up for you if you need help.

Doesn't leave much room for person in front. Would also suggest car seat without a base.

Rear seat would be best, but if you have to, you can put it in the front passenger seat as well.

The front passenger seat has a built-in sensor (occupant classification system) that will automatically turn off the air bag if the passenger does not reach a certain weight (not sure what the weight is... 100 pounds maybe?).

A dash light (above the radio) will come on when the air bag is turned off.

Sorry I can't help with your original question, but wanted to make sure you were aware of this feature as well.

I believe it is the law in most states that rear child seats are required until 20lbs. It is in Florida. I also believe that the child must sit in the rear.

I think Mustang's are safe enough all though they are not the roomiest.
