Is this the real deal?

Spotted this whilst surfing the 'net. At first I thought it was merely the original '05 coupe concept, but painted red. BUT, look closer. I then thought it must be a stunning replica bodykit, BUT the original post was from Dec '03.

So, what is it? Could it be a first attempt a the concept that didn't make it? Or is it really "just" a body-kitted '05. In which case, how did they get hold of it so soon?

Either way, it looks stunning and I'm amazed I've never seen any other attempts to recreate the concept look on an '05.

I think it was a test mule of some sort.

I think it is the real deal. That picture has also been on this site for a while in the 2005 timeline under concepts.

I think it's STS that has a twin turbo mounted under the car. Speed channel had a show on the install. The only question in my book is what happens when it rains? The airfilters are mounted under the car so what happens if you go over a deep puddle or something? I would stick with a single turbo on the v8's. I'm making 480RWHP on mine.

It's certainly not the original concept. The front facia is very different.

My vote is that it's a pretty good clone. Too bad we couldn't see the back.

It's definitely from Ford. It was around too long to be homemade. Also, it's got the Ford concept wheels. The production version of the wheels have different center caps. And it's got the concept mirrors. Being a different front fascia, I would say it was a test mule for an SE, or they were just experimenting with different looks for the front.

The more I look, the more I'm convinced it's an early version of the concept with a different front end. The wheels, glass roof, door mirrors, lack of door handles........all point to the concept.

I can only assume the picture was taken at a private viewing.

I tell you something though, I'd love the '09 restyle to look just like that
