Radar Detectors
#1
Got a new radar detector for christmas (woo-hoo!) But I read somewhere in literature that Ford uses some kind of matalic coating on its glass, called Instaclear, that may reduce the effectiveness of radar detectors? Does this coating come on all Ford glass, or is it just used in certain applications? More importantly, is it on my '05 Mustang V-6? Does anyone know?

What kind of radar detector did you get? The range on my V1 in the Mustang is as good as my other car so I would say the ford glass doesn't have any dramatic effects on coverage. I also haven't had any trouble with my suction cups not sticking. Overall its working great. Now if I would just take the time to wire the mute button into a steering wheel control.

Our Mustangs do not have the "instaclear" feature, so no detector related problems,
The only problem for our detectors may be the decal located on the front windshield behind the rear view mirror,if you have located your detector there.
If there is any metallic or any metal related products in the decal then it will throw off the detectors, would also pertain to window tinting.
